Okay, not really. But seriously did you hear about the moon!?! It will be the closest it's been to Earth in 20 years or so and simply looking marvahlous darling, around 3:00 a.m. on this evening March 19th! If you are up, do look, take pictures and "moon it about."

:)

Who saw it!

:)

I saw it. It didn't look that much closer than it usually does, but I'm sure it probably was. I guess, if I saw a before and after view together, I could tell better.

It wasn't a clear image, for some reason. It had been cloudy all night and at the end of the night, about 4:30 or 5:00, the clouds moved away. But, it left some kind of haze. I'm guessing it was moisture in the air. It's been pretty rainy around here the last few days, and expecting more, tomorrow and Tuesday. Fun stuff for those of us who are out in it.

Anyway, I was at work and not allowed to have cameras. I guess I could have had a cell phone camera or something, but that really wouldn't have come out very well. Although it was suppose to be closer, it wasn't really large enough for a camera phone shot. It would have needed a tripod to get a good, clear image.

I saw the news stories on TV about it, and they really didn't do the whole thing right. They said it was going to be larger, because it was so close last night, and the images they had on the screen were of a HUGE moon! They had an extreme closeup of the moon and so I'm sure everybody thought it was going to look that large in the sky.

In my opinion, it was a little larger, but I didn't really notice that much difference. Just another of those media hype things, maybe. But, at least I got to see it.

Oh, but if you really want to...I wouldn't stop you from mooning me. :D

I saw it on friday night and it was HUGE. I'm glad the world din't explode.

Went to some standing stones in north west england.

It was middle of the night. 3 hour drive, raining and cloudy when we got there. Spent 5 mins out of the car enjoying the experience and drove home.

Finally headed for bed at 4.30am.

Mad, but fun :)

Am on the coast in North West England. I glanced out of the window, saw my garden (usually very black at night) brightly lit, and assumed I must have left the garden light on by accident lol.

We had a heck of a high tide that day too.

Saw it! It appeared only a little bigger than usual, but it was super-extra-bright. All the crazies were calling last night, too, so I guess that whole full moon bit is even more true when it's a super-moon. ;)

I got a nice clear sky few of it. It didn't seem that much bigger but much brighter. I fell asleep with the moon shining through my bedroom window.

I sometimes work in Liverpool and Leyland.

The stones are at Castlerigg. Heck of a drive from where I live but couple of times I have been I have loved it.

Ah. Castlerigg stone circle is a really magical place, isn't it? I love going there. Knocks Stonehenge into a cocked hat, in my opinion.

I agree with you.

SeanH from the GB took me there. I only moved north last year. Wish I had been able to take ADR when she came over few years ago. She would have loved it.

I took a Canadian friend there a couple of years ago. It was a summer weekend and so there were people there but she was still blown away - and took some brilliant photos. I first went to Castlerigg when I lived in London. I consider myself extremely lucky now to be living so close to it (oh - and to the rest of the Lakes too ;) )

Best I've ever experienced it was on a rainy, dull weekday in January - totally deserted and very atmospheric

Have been spending weekends discovering the lakes. Beautiful.
Plus west coast of Scotland is not that far either.

They are all better shots than I would have had, with my view. And knowing some about photography, lenses and filters, some of them looked either altered or staged. But even those looked really nice.

From the list, it looks like my view was something like the Colorado views, but without the mountains. And, in my first post, I said the moon looked hazy. I think the moon was just brighter, so I couldn't see the definition of its surface I can usually see.

Whatever the method of taking them, they are all nice pictures, though. Thanks for posting them. :D
