Hey, does anyone know if team owners are obligated to buy rings?

Is it part of the contract or just something they do out of the goodness of their own heart?

Teams aren't obligated I found out from a friend of mine, but it is a tradition for teams to provide them.

I know the Dallas Stars gave rings to players who had been with the team for the five years they were Pacific division champs.

right, i know. i guess my point was that certain things become so entrenched that, essentially, you are obligated, whether it's written anywhere or not. I think this is one of those things.
