If you fantasize about potty, does that make you a urophile?
If you fantasize about lesbians, does that make you a lesbophile?
If you fantasize about children, does that make you a pedophile?

Does fantasy have the potential be harmful?

Just stop thinking for a moment, Muffie, and enjoy it. FUCK!!!:D

My personal ideas on this:

If you are just THINKING about or fantasizing about something, then that doesn't carry a label.

My exception for this is fantasizing about sex with children. I don't mean thinking of sex with a 15 or 16 year old, I meran thinking of sex with a 10 year old. I think that fantasizing about that makes a person a pedophile, without even acting on it. But that is just my weird opinion.

I think the difference is that fantasizing about pee or something does not harm anyone. In fact in most cases it does not harm anyone from practicing it in sexual activites, though I think it is gross. But fantasizing about sex with children has a dangerous aura. Practicing it would be child molest, which is a polite word for child fucking.

The "phile" has a negative conotation to it, and probably should, the way "addict" does.

I think a person is only a "phile" if their lives are heavily affected by their fantasies.

Oh my god!

I am so many different kind of 'philes I dunno what to think.

Here's a few:

vaginaphile
logophile
russophile
aesthetiphile
philophile

And because I am one, I then to like other people with the same philias, what does that make me?

For instance. I love porn. So I am a pornophile. But I love people who love porn because the reinforce my pornophilia. Now what am I?

A pornophilicophile?

Is that a word? What about phobias?

I feel like my head is so far up my own ass that it is coming out of my mouth? Wait! That's not possible!

A Christ killer?

BTW--Laurel, is that your kitty in the av? What kind is it? I want it. Really. And no, I won't stuff it or disect it or use it to pull my sleigh.

As if! The "-phile" stands for "love." I'm a Hibernophile, because I love Ireland and things Irish. That's so far off base as to sound dangerous.

Just because some "loves" are (and should be) illegal, doesn't make "loving" a bad thing.

I think the fantasies, urges, and behaviors must be recurrent issues for at least 6 months. Fantasies are normal but when they consume your every day activities, there's a problem. I'm talking about serious impairment in your societal, occupational, and family roles.

Edited to add that 80's porn is scary.

Suuure you won't.

Pretending you actually do care... Yes, it's my kitty Aiko. She's a Bengal. Bengals are a wild cat/domestic cat crossbreed. Here's more on them:

That's what I thought. I've seen them in the distant past for around $250-$500. Tell me you didn't pay that much (or more) for the kitty.

That's an intresting question. I would say that if it is your dominant fantasy i.e. the one you are most likely to think about when you are having a sexual fantasy, then yes you probably are a "phile" of whatever type. If you only have a given fantasy once or twice, then it's not really your dominant fantasy, just idle sexual wanderings.

Fantasy does have the potential to be harmful if you actually decide to carry it out without being realistic about it. If you have sex with a ten year old, she will probably not thank you and view the experience as a "beautiful entry into her young womanhood", regardless of the fantasy. If you rape someone, they will not crawl back for more of your "savage passion", regardless of the fantasy. Fantasies are cool, real life can involve pain, jail, jealousy, money, health endargerment and any number of other complications.

It certainly is a beautiful cat.

I pretty much feel what sateema said...Just putting the sex stuff aside imagine if all of us acted out our impulses what would happen...

And what would the diff be between having a fetish or being a "phile' or are they interchangable?

Even though I think there needs to be some changes in the definitions and classifications, a fetish involves non-living objects.
