...but you could buy ONE thing, what would it be.

I think I'd buy/build a big house (20-25 rooms) on a lake with plenty of land around it.

Stretching this to the max... (beyond the grave in fact)

A day with my Dad. I miss him yet I know almost nothing about him.
Otherwise world peace or food for all the starving.
Or for me and mine alone? A large house in the country and plenty of land.

Just one piece of real estate................

Stretching from just South of Canada to just North of Mexico!:D

I want a 5 bedroom house with enough room for 3 kids to never see each other and lots of land.

One bedroom in California, one in Alaska, one in Florida............!

I'd by the largest old house I could find to restore it, then make it a half way house for troubled teens. Giving them something of beauty to care for, someplace they can be proud to call theirs.

A place they to which they can invite their friends so they can smoke pot, drink beer, and have all the drunken high sex they want.

:D

Sorry, I'm such a cynic.

And then trash the place!

Nothing wrong just years of despair at the capacity of youth to destroy that which they do not have to work for.

Yup, I do. I know that troubled teens aren't troubled because they don't have any nice things.

They're troubled (BIG generalization here) because they lacked proper guidance and discipline, and with those things comes work ethic and responsibility.

RH I've been working with teen groups since I WAS a teen. It has nothing to do with having nice things. It has to do with being responsible for things you care about.

The building we use as our Center was falling apart when we found it. The kids came every day and woked on it themselves. They rebuilt, painted, landscaped. It gave them a sense of pride and accomplishment which is something they weren't used to.

That TAUGHT them work eithics and responsibility.

Ahhhh... I misinterpreted your post. I thought you meant that YOU would restore it and then hand it over to them to maintain it once it was all fixed up.

My apologies, love.

That was rather what the initial post said.

Oops!

Sorry!

I'd buy an appartment complex big enough to keep some family members closer to me, as long as they keep up with the rent.
