As an atheist, I do not believe this would happen. Period. I do not have a Handy Explanation for such an event, because I simply view it as a fable/story, used either as a scare tactic to get people to convert, or to reinforce the necessity of zealous adherence to the religion, lest the person gets left behind.

Dear Todd,

Please buy not only a new bible (maybe one in French), but a dictionary. The word you were looking for is "procreate," not "copulate." Also look up the word "meme," it's like a scripted gene only instead of being passed along biologically it's an idea that passes from one to another sometimes subconsciously.
