What would you suggest as the best place to have a good fun time?

What casual restaurant would you recommend?

What nicer restaurant would you recommend?

Where would you recommend that I stay?

Sounds like my town. We have one stop light, one hotel, one main street, but 3 bars. How's that for fun?

Austin, Texas

6th Street, of course.

What casual restaurant would you recommend?

Trudy's. I love that place beyond all else. The best queso, the best mexican martinis in the universe (although having ONE apparently causes someone to believe that I'm in need of professional help )

What nicer restaurant would you recommend?

For Mexican, Fonda San Miguel. It's interior Mexican with the best calimari I've ever had in my life. For anything else? uh...why the hell would someone come to Texas and NOT want Mexican food?

Where would you recommend that I stay?

Can't go wrong with any FourSeasons location, if you're into high-end hotels. For a taste of local color though, it's the Austin Motel on Congress.

You'd be *miserable* if you lived on 6th Street in Austin! LOL You'd have to take a night job and sleep during the day!

Downtown at night.

El Toritos...great food and karaoke.

Humphrey's by the Bay

With me.

:)

Hmm...there's fun here even if we don't go into DC at all.

Taking you out would be a bit of a challenge, because pretty much all there is are bars, but there are also parks and waterfront places to go, and historical places, too (one of them allegedly haunted). Fall brings the Renaissance Festival, County Fairs, and turning of the leaves on the trees that makes July 4 fireworks look like a Charlie Chaplin movie. Summer brings minor-league baseball. Winter means driving around the neighborhoods looking at all the Christmas lights. Spring? Spring is just glorious around here - the weather near-perfection, kids playing baseball, and such.

Casual restaurants is just about the only place I go to eat, so I'll go there. Olive Garden is a go-to for me. :) But there's a wonderful little Greek place not too far down the road that's family-owned and operated and is absolutely wonderful! I suppose that's be my first choice (because souvlaki that melts in your mouth with homemade tzat..tsat...zat...Greek yogurt sauce is Heaven). But close runners-up would be Laredo's, a great Mexican restaurant, and take-out from China Jade. :)

Dress-up? Not much of that in this town. Besides, I don't dress up much. I could find a place, though.

And you could stay with me. I'd never assume you'd sleep in my bed. But you'd sleep in my bed, and I on the couch in the living room. Unless dinner went really well. :)

(Hey...what can I say about it all? I'm a home-town kind of guy!)

The first time I went to San Diego, I went to Anthony's. That was a great place. I'll have to try out Humphrey's the next time I'm there.

:)

Y'all are so lucky to live in such roaring metropolises!

My town is too small for even a flashing yellow, let alone an actual stoplight.

We have a bar though. i imagine it as one of those places that when a stanger walks in, everything including the jukebox stops, and an eerie silence descends.

Jim, it all sounds wonderful! I'd love to see the Christmas lights. There is just something magical about them. I'd also love to see the haunted places. I'm intrigued by the paranormal. I've eaten once at an Olive Garden and I've don't believe I've ever eaten anything Greek.

Just for the record, I don't really dress up either. I'm a simple type of gal.

And if I were ever near DC, I'd definitely look you up! But, I'd take the couch. I'd never kick anyone out of their own bed. :) Unless dinner went really well!

That happens here! Anyone who walks thru the doors and isn't recognized kinda gets the silent treatment for a sec.
Kinda cliquey around here.

Come to my town and everything you need and want is located
here in my home.

We are a small town as well and there is no better place to be.
From my deck you can see for 20 miles either direction.

I make the best B-B-Q babyback ribs in town.

The privacy is unbelievable

The room (my room-shared with you) is 4 stars rating *****

Will I could dream couldn't I? Would enjoy showing you my town.

All the above is true. I know you would just increase the rating to a 5 star......

:D I was just gonna ask about your room not being 5 stars... Glad you cleared that up! I love BBQ... Your neck of the woods sounds kinda nice. Thanks!

You'd have a blast here, then. :)

Simple works best here, and with me also. Simple is better, to my thinking.

And, unfortunatel, I'd ahve to insist on your taking the bed. My Dad would whip me if he knew that any guest in my house has to stay on the couch. That's just not good manners, y'see. :)

Se we'd just have to, in the interest of avoiding any conflict later in the evening, make sure that dinner went well. ;)
