... there would be some changes to the posting here, by the gods.

1. I've noticed a decided shift toward exceedingly short posts of late, many of which are, in essence, little "conversations" between two or three people on topics not generally of interest to most of us.
Boring.
Inane.
Jejune.

2. I've also noticed a propensity toward extreme unkindness between two or more people in some public posts of late. Fighting, and public name calling, and the electronic giving-of-black eyes have been occurring with deplorable regularity. I really hate that since i often like those involved and, so, dislike seeing them fight like tired, spoiled children in such a public manner.

3. Finally, i despise the posts that are thrown up like so much vomit for the express purpose of increasing one's post total. If you don't have anything interesting to say, don't say anything. Everyone will be much the better for you adopting such an attitude.

Okay. I'm all done venting about how i could make this better place if i ruled the universe. Feel free to (continue to) ignore me, unless, of course, you feel that i've offended you in particular and so you need to retaliate in kind. (Be warned: i don't play "flame wars" games. If you have bad feelings toward me, i'll be glad to discuss them with you privately. If i owe any apologies, i'll be glad to make them in public, after you and i have discussed the issue in private.)

*blinks* uhh.. sorry. But most of the posts here don't deserve me wasting my thoughts, time, and energy to post something actually relevant and/or profound. they're just not worth it. if something warrants an in-depth actual more-than one sentence line, it will get it.

if my arguing with a few members - mostly in jest and play, too - upsets people, well, I will try to keep it confined to one specific thread so it's easier for you to avoid.

post racking is not the goal of many here. not mine, i know that much. it's just the immaturity and inanity of so many posts invokes the same in response, and it takes a better person than me to raise a thread to a higher level. and your definition of interesting is quite different from someone else's. I, for one, think politics are boring and a bunch of bullshit, but some people love them and those are the only threads they participate in. iff you don't think a thread/post will be interesting - don't read it.

I'm guilty of 2 with astonishing regularity. But I thoroughly enjoy verbal fisticuffs, whereas I prefer a more "put the other guy down" streetfighting fashion in the physical sense. It's cathartic. I am human and I am an animal. The veneer of civilization with which we cover ourselves is just that, a thin layer that disguises what lies beneath. Civilizing oneself is the acceptable method of dishonesty. I would be civil to someone on the board, Hello, wow, interesting viewpoint. In my head I would be thinking, what a stupid fuck. Honesty or civility? Must there be a choice and why would civility be any better? Is there ever a doubt where I stand on anything?

Of course, I am seriously trying to justify my fundamental violent nature here. Did it work?

Ummm....if it didn't would anyone argue with you? ;)

1. i do make short posts often there fun and often you dont need to write a whole lot to put a small point accross ... but i also make long'ish posts too depending on the mood of the thread ... i think when you post a thread its very rare your going to interest everyone ... but if you interest a few people and they want to discuss the subject whats the harm and if it gets alittle chatty then thats no harm either .. i think just about everyone has had a thread where its turned into a chat room nearly

2. ive come close to having a flame war with someone ... but i stopped myself its difficult to just say stop but when you think about it all your going to do is upset the other person and upset yourself ... bad for both of you ... its better to just stop

3. i couldnt care about post count ... might as well just get rid of them if you ask me ... although i think its kind of fun having to work up to 100 before you can have an av

4. my point :) ... i dislike when threads escape ... there being discussed and chatted about within a thread ... and then suddenly usually for a flame they escape grow into a second thread ... why not just stay in the first thread :)

5. one last point hehe ... ive never not once posted on one of those increase your post number threads ... i hope i will never post on one of those for the whole time im at lit :)

Started to just post "Cymbidia Rules" but that would have been an extremely short post so I had to stretch it out some.

Of course the idea of a sub ruling the universe kind of intrigues me. Hmmmmm, going to have to think on that one.

I bet, that even though this is a totally irrelelvant post, that cym will approve because it praises her.

The board is rampant with hypocrisy. If I ran Lit that'd be one of the first things i'd try to fix.

If I were King I'd make the world a happier place by uniting all races and creeds and there wouldn't be any fighting because we'd all work together towards a common good and there'd be peace and no more wars and we'd all work together to build houses for everyone and there'd be plenty of food and no more disease and everyone would just love instead of hate.

But I'D still be King, so my house would be full of people who actualy communicated on an adult level with wit, passion, tolerance and extreme sarcasm for all things complacent and all the shiny happy people could go fuck themselves.

OKAY! YEH!!!
Now we're getting somewhere!

Besides spouting off eternally interesting and aching appropriate opinions on this subject, i sorta wanted to know what **YOU** would change if YOU ran the Lit universe. I mean, my suggestions are inherently wonderful and deliciously meaningful-to-all and stuff but i'm graciously tolerant and indulgently broad-minded enough to accept that others might, just might, have one or two good ideas too.

~lifting an eyebrow at lavy while inching back toward that oh-so lovely and inviting pedestal~

And, gee, willy? Always? There's often not enough hypocrisy in the world, hmmm? Post away. :p

Alright. If IIIIII ruled Literotica...

Everyone would be my groupie *smirk* and DCL would worship me, and I'd have the most posts and the coolest title and best avatar... *stops herself* Oh, you means serioussly...

Sorry, no real suggestions then.

That's the thing, cym my darlin, I wouldn't change lit because the thing that irritates beyond belief is already gone. I'd leave it as it is. Threads that make me gnash my teeth at the sheer idiocy, trolls, violent eruptions, flirting on a serious thread, inanity, hypocrasy, stupid ppman political threads, Todd's ideology, etc. I wouldn't change any of it, except the start a new thread with no point every 15 seconds because the "board is slow," but that went the way of the tunafish.

I wouldn't change it because everyone here is an individual. Some are irritating beyond the realm of belief and some are vastly interesting. The scope of humanity and what it means to be humanity is represented in such an interesting fashion here. Everything from jealousy, misrepresentation, dishonesty, viciousness, and cheating to happiness, joy, sex, and fun is here. Sometimes reading a thread that's been hijacked by three or four conversationalists can be interesting because of the underlying friendship in it. Reading a troll's post can be interesting because trolls say things that represent the bad parts of us that we never show. It also shows us what human ugliness is without a pictoral from Purple Haze.

I'm not saying that bad posts and bad trolls are right. I'm just saying that they give the board the full picture of humanity and some perspective.

But I can still be King of the whole wide world, right? Because I've already started picking out swatches...

Oh I forgot, there is one thing I would change. DCL would be required to send pictures of himself naked to me, at the least.

What??? OH my gawd, I adore naked men, is there something wrong with that? Jeez laweeeze.

Why... why... you selfish bitch!

Just to you?????

I decided awhile ago that everything worth saying can be said in one sentence - three at most. I decided that everything else is simply cushioning and that the more cushioning needed, the weaker or more absurd the main point. Much like a high school student padding their paper to meet some preordained word count - 'blind them with bullshit' as Tom likes to say.

However, I've softened my stance somewhat, as I have realize that such minimalism was simply a reaction to various posters who were overly proud of their verbosity and apt to launch into 'debates'. Debate being their term for creating monolithic posts of nothing but rhetoric, which in no way responded to the points of the equally monolithic posts of rhetoric their opponents were lashing about.

Real communication is always convaying complex ideas in simple forms.

I'd like to respond to that in a series of monographs I'm preparing for the New Yorker magazine which will appear in 17 monthly installments beginning November 2001.

Just imagine: Pictures of Dixon wearing nothing but a crown.

Brings a tear to my eye, it does.

I'll be looking for them.

LMFAO *falls down, laughing hysterically*

Ahh, never mind. I think I've been here too long, that's all.

Looking for me anyone? I'll be hiding at Something New and Different, one word is all I can think of...but at least I don't say it. ;) I left the personal friends thread...I guess I'm not very personable. The scream and yell threads just make me sing Really Rosie's Enchanted One in my head, and I stopped caring about my post total when I hit 1000. Many of times I start to write a long thoughtful answer to a post, then I delete it all and go away, thinking either it'll be flamed, ignored, or said by someone else anyway. Call me tired...

When everybody screams and yells
Who calms 'em down who rings their bells
When everybody screams and yells
The enchanted one, that's me
It takes personality, a lot of personality
To turn twelve boring hours
Into a fascinating day
I can do it, that's a fact
I can do it, can't you see
And I'll do it all for free
Do you know, can you guess
Who I simply have to be?
Stop screamin' and yelling and I'll tell you already
Stop screamin' and yelling and screamin' and yelling
The enchanted one, that's me.

I got your facial right here, baby.

No, wait. That came out wrong. What I meant to say was:

Gee, I hope she's feeling okay.

Bad Gaucho. Bad Gaucho :p
