For a story: If one identical twin is left-handed, is the other also left-handed? I presume so, but I'm just checking to make sure

Most of the time, yes, but there are cases called "mirror" twins where one is left handed and one is right handed.

I've met a twin or two who was underhanded. (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

I'm trying to picture the sex scene that you are choreographing.......Carney

I grew up with identicals that were mirror image twins. It made it easier to tell them apart.

And in a mirrored room! Think of the possibilities!!!!! But apparently 3113 already has, damn it!!
No, no. That isn't my story. You're free to run with that idea. Yep. Twins in a house of mirrors....

Crim is right. I've encountered such.
I've actually encountered more "mirror" twins than identical twins.

It isn't always manefested as one right-handed and the other left-handed, and the left-handed one is often forced into right-handed habits by teachers/parents/etc when it does manefest that way.
.

My twin nephews are ambidextrous. So are their parents.

I'm ambisinistrous (useless with either hand). :D

Well since I'm a identical twin (and so is my sister ;) ) and we are both right handed, I'd think that most identical twins are either both right (or left) handed although I have heard about mirror twins.

Did you know that twins are more likely to be left-handed than the general population? Being left-handed is considered a mild birth defect in the case of twns. If I remember correctly, it has to do with less room in the womb.

Don't get all offended. I'm left-handed and a twin, though my twin was stillborn.

I am running!

Uhh! Ouch! THUD!

"Fucking mirrors! I know they are in here somewhere!!"

Gerald Edelman wrote a fascinating book about molecular embryology: TOPOBIOLOGY. In it he writes about how identical twins are different. Much of the sameness is cosmetic.

Really? Mine are left-handed, but I figured it was genetics since their daddy and grandmother are both left-handed.

Makes sense. My mother and her sister were identical twins - and surprisingly different. Different looks, different personalities - very strange...
