Ideas can cum from anyplace. Watching TV or reading the paper. You can even be at the mall and watch someone do something that made you think 'hmmmm, I wonder what would happen if..."

Other times you create a set-up and characters and when you start writing, they do things that you never dreamed of.

At least that's what works for me.

Write about some of the "lost chances" in your life. Start with some situation that actually happened, but write how you "wished" it had turned out instead of what really did happen.

any male can normaly come up with loads of ideas for stories on the spot.women to can have an over worked imagination. you just think up some characters a place and an activities and bobs your uncle.try it and let me know how you get on.

I should probably be telling you this privately, but maybe it will help someone else too.

I was a virgin until the advanced age of (gasp!) 42. No details, but I have written over 100 stories in the last 4 years, and most are not from personal experience.

I've read a lot of romance stories when I was younger, bodice rippers as I got older, and finally, I even bought a few sex manuals once the time came, to figure a few things out that my Catholic upbringing had not allowed me to previously question or explore.

My ideas come from my dreams. Some are erotic and pretty hot. But a lot of times I get just a snippet of an idea, or a sense of an emotion, or a conflict. I've also gotten and idea from a movie, but changed it to a more modern setting.

I also surfed a lot of "how-to" sites. My fiance and my writing have benefited (or at least I think so!)
