It is an awesome feeling when an author brings your idea to life. I've only had it happen a couple times. Authors likely feel the same feeling every time they bring their own ideas to life but us lowly non-writers only get this experience when someone uses our idea (and even then, only if it is done well).

For those of you who have shared ideas with others and had those ideas turn into stories, please post a link to the idea (or a brief description of how much of the idea is from you) and the story it became. Did you enjoy the result? Was it true to your vision? In the case I mentioned, the answers would be, respectively: yes, but much better and yes, perfectly so.

I realize that most of the ideas posted here never become stories but hopefully we'll get some responses.

Authors are also welcome respond post if they used someone elses idea.

One of my stories (on the page linked in my sig below), "Party Hard", was based on the Halloween story discussion we were having in here a few months ago.

Sadly, I have yet to get around to writing a story that includes the day care for the under-aged siblings of legal-aged girls about to be seduced by sex demons or whatever it was I called it. :D

I'm a writer so a lot of my ideas have come to life. The thing is, sometimes these ideas I have take a few years to become a full developed story. I guess the best example would be Down and Out. The basic idea came to me about three years ago, but it was just finished a few months ago. Talk about a feeling of accomplishment!

On other occassions, I can sit down and write a story in only a few hours time. This is less common, but that too has it's sense of fulfillment.

One of the biggest feelings of accomplishments in my 32 years on this planet though, has to be when I wrote the words THE END on my novel. So many people say they are going to write a novel, or should write a novel, or have an idea for a novel, but to actually be able to say I wrote one, rates right up their with getting married or having a child. Mine took over 5 years to complete as I agonized over ever word, sentence structure and dialog.
