Now I’m dying to know why you got kicked out! My uncle took me to his Catholic Church a few times when I was a kiddo. Once, when I was maybe 15 years old, I went to mass with him, my aunt, and my cousins. I have severe fibromyalgia and standing up is difficult for me. I stayed sitting during the first time the flock was called to stand. A person behind me tapped me on my shoulder and told me “you’re supposed to stand”. I so badly wanted to tell them off! But I was with my uncle, aunt, and cousins, so I had to push myself to stand. Now, as an adult, I absolutely refuse to stand during religious services. Luckily, at my church (a Unitarian Universalist Church), you’re invited to stand “as you’re willing and able”.
