IC:FireFly/Serenity

River walked slowly through the ship talking to herself. She looked around in curiosity, watching Mal as he unloaded some cargo into the ship before moving on to the upper deck to find Simon and the others. Passing the infirmary she glimpsed inside to see Simon fiddling with a new test machine she just knew he would try out on her later. Sighing she kept on walking, looking for Kaylee or anyone to take any interest in her. It had been a month now since she had turned eighteen and the crew of the Serenity still were treating her like she was a child, though Mal had given her a little more free reign by allowing her to fly the ship.

She paused outside the door to Inara's shuttle, curious about went on inside. She had heard rumours but none of it actually made any sense to her since she had yet to lie with a man. Passing Jayne's room she looked inside and found he wasn't there. Ever since she had kicked his ass in the bar Jayne had kept his distance from her and watched her constantly. She was kinda disappointed in this due to the fact that he was the only eligible bachelor on the ship other than the captain and her brother, which were both for obvious reasons unavailable. Sighing she moved on in her silent way, passing what had been Zoey and Wash's room before that horrible day when they had fought the Reavers, she looked inside to find the room empty as well.

Continuing to talk to herself, she moved through the ship and down into the engine room, hoping to find Kaylee. Kaylee was the only on on the ship that seemed to get her and River and found that she had come to consider Kaylee one of her closest friends. Of course the fact that Kaylee was infatuated with her brother Simon and seemed to be treating him well was another mark in River's good books as far as she was concerned.

Jayne swore loudly, as he tasted the drink he poured and spat it out, as it was no longer edible.

'Never any bloody food round here, dunno why its not as if we're all desperate to go overweight any time soon.'

Sighing he made his way back to his hoom where he occupied himself by going through his armoury.

As he did he found himself remembering the old times, when Wash and Shepherd book had still being around and...

He stopped.

'This aint no time to get sentimental.'

He rose and decided to make his way down to the cargo bay. On the way he passed by River, whom, despite being a hot little psycho bitch, had bloody kicked his ass ages ago.

He simply attempted to carry on walking without paying her much attention.

On a small ship not far from the current location of Serenity, a tall, darkhaired main sat in a chair, looking at a viewscreen. He was alone on the ship, which was a custom job he'd had made at an Alliance shipyards prior to disappearing. The men who had constructed it had been dead for several years, becoming part of the very station they worked in. He wasn't sure what he was looking for, but Daizen Mizuri had lived a long time by looking for anything that seemed too ordinary. That was why his training as an Operative of the Alliance, which he was no longer affiliated with, triggered immediately as he watched the Firefly-class vessel move across his screens. He could have left them alone, but he had a feeling they'd be seen again anyways, so he started following them. The ship moved stealthily after them, the dark hull armor hiding it very well amongst the blackness of space. Not even a sensor shadow would show up on the small freighter's screens, or at least, it shouldn't.

"Well well, let's see what kind of trouble you're in, trying so hard to look like you belong."

He continued to watch, seeing nothing out of the ordinary, yet. The ship's registration showed it to be one Serenity, belonging to one Sergeant Malcolm Reynolds, of the Outer Colonies Rebellion Army, as the Alliance once called it.

Kaylee was out and about. She had been hiding in the Engine Room reminiscing about what had been. But sighing she got up and headed into the kitchen. She arrived just as Jayne was leaving and since she didnt want to bother him, made no noise, going about getting something to eat. "Gorram," she mutterd to the air "We need to do a job soon and get some real food." She forced herself to finish it and then then headed to the main cargo bay to work out on the machines. She stripped off her top shirt and got to work lifting the weights.

Simon was busy in Sick Bay putting away the last of the supplies Mal had gone through (more like thrown around) trying to fix his latest gun wound from the last job. "...why do I even bother sometimes" he sighed as he finished up. Looking up he saw Kaylee walk past on her way to the cargo bay. Figuring he'd offer her a hand, but was struck quiet as he watched her pull her shirt off and go to work lifting the weights, a favourite past time of the crew it seemed.

Kaylee smiled to herself while working out. She figured Simon had seen her looking at him but she had seen it all. She smiled at him thru the window and made a come here motion with her head. He just shook his head and continued to put stuff away. Kaylee sighed and setitng the weights up sat up and walked quietly into SIckBay. She leaned against the door post and watched Simon as he moved about, his back to her.

River shied away from Jayne as she passed him on her way to the engine room. She stood looking after him, a thoughtful look on her face before breaking into a wistful smile and following after him. She could tell that he was attempting to avoid her and it delighted to irk him by following him around. Passing the Sick Bay again, she looked in to see her brother tidying up the mess that Mal had left there. She noticed him looking through the window and watching Kaylee working out and smiled again before moving on, realizing that Jayne was quite a ways ahead of her.

Running she almost caught up with him as he was descending the stairs down into the cargo bay. She stood on the cat walk, watching him and then Mal, seeing that Zoey had joined him to put away the cargo from the last job. The last job had gone so horribly wrong and ended up with Mal being shot and the man that had originally given them the job going back on his word at the last moment, leaving Mal and his crew short on cash and desperate for another job to come along.

"Jayne," she called out, a sly smile on her face. She was in a playful mood and had chosen Jayne as her playmate, or subject of torment as he would most likely see it. Turning on her heels, she looked back over her shoulder at him. "Bet you can't catch me," she taunted, playing to his competitive nature.

"Bet you can't catch me," Malcolm heard from the far side of the cargo bay. He sighed and shook his head. River had changed in the past few weeks, it seemed. Not caring to watch the resulting the interaction between River and Jayne, he strutted up the staircase to the catwalk, and headed to his quarters.

He jumped down the ladder to his living area, and went to his wash sink, and splashed some water in his face. He sighed, and then withdrew a gun from his hostler and tossed it down on his bunk.

Kaylee was watching Simon when she sensed Malcolm walk past her on his way to his bunk. She fleetingly wondered who was piloting the ship but figured it was on auto-pilot. She shrugged and turned her full attention back to Simon and jumped when she saw he was directly in front of her face. He looked so cute and kissable.

Malcolm climbed out of his quarters and headed to the cockpit of the ship. With Zoe still back in the hold, he assumed he was left to the pilot the ship, and sat down and took the ship off autopilot.

Jayne turned and sighed, River seemed to want to play.

But he could handle that, he's being bored for a while now and was in a playful mood.

'You wanna bet sunshine?' He laughed and began to chase after her.

River squealed as Jayne began to run after her and took off down the hall. Looking back over her shoulder she could see him getting close and quickened her pace. She ran along the catwalk and then down the hallway towards the sleeping quarters. Looking back again, she smiled at Jayne.

"You run like a girl, Jayne," she taunted.

Jayne simply grinned as River sped up her pace and began to do the same.

'You say that only cos i'm running better than you Sunshine!' He yelled back.

He quickly took a shortcut only he knew about and was soon stood right in front of River.

'Boo' He playfully grabbed her.

'I win, now whats my prize?'

River pretended to struggle in Jayne's arms, loving the feel of his hands on her. Looking up at him she smiled and then reached out and tickled him, her hands brushing lightly along his ribs. Looking over at the Sick Bay where she could still see her brother working away and then looking around her, she grabbed Jayne's arm and pulled him into one of the empty bedrooms, sliding the door shut behind them.

"Jayne's a girl's name," she teased. "Think you can prove to me that you are a man."

Daizen looked at his screens, and shook his head. "Not good. Not good at all." He considered warning the other ship, but that would let THEM know where he was. Instead, he activates a system that made it seem even less like he was there then the armored hull did. He'd step in if he felt a need to, but he didn't want to be involved unless there was a profit or a principle involved.

Out in space, stalking closer to the Firefly-class ship known as Serenity, a pirate and smuggler vessel known well to the Alliance, was a large Cruiser, of a new class. Still not enough to pick up the Shadowdancer, but more than enough to outgun the Serenity. Probably to outmaneuver too. It moved steadily closer, and was soon enough in range to launch tow cables and try to take the vessel onboard.

Jayne smiled a he was pulled into one of the empty rooms.

'Jayne aint a girls name, and i can easily prove that i'm a man.'

River pulled away from his arms and smirked at him. Reaching in, she tickled him again, trying to make him squirm.

"Prove it Jayne," she said laughing. "Me thinks you are afraid to."

Simon smiled to himself when he saw Kaylee standing behind him out of the corner of his eye. He had put the last of the med kits away and was just teasing her, making himself look busy. He'd seen the way Kaylee became shy around him at time, and found that to be one of the cutest things about her.

When Malcom walked by he turned to look at her. She looked amazing he always thought when she was covered in engine grease and oil. Something about it made her even better. Maybe it was the complete opposite from the clean enviroments, never getting dirty life that he left behind that made her appeal to him so much, and with her standing there in her coveralls and a bra wasn't helping him keep control either.

Simon moved closer while she wasn't looking, and when she turned back around he stared deep into her eyes, unable to say anything for a moment, forgetting what he was going to do.

"Hi", he finally managed to choke out as he ran his fingers through his hair, blushing.

"Oh Simon!" Kaylee said blushing just as bad as he was. Then not able to control herself she leaned in and kissed him on his soft lips. Simon deepened the kiss and she grabbed handfuls of his shirt to keep herself steady. Finally she broke away from him and just looked into this lanquid pools of eyes. "God Simon, why didnt we do this sooner?"

"I don't know," he smiled as he leaned in and gently kissed her neck, whispering in her ear "but I'm glad we finally did." He gently slipped his hands through her overalls and touched her skin as he pulled her closer. Holding her close he thought of all the possibilities as he saw his shirt getting covered in engine grease, he thought "...god this girl is amazing".

Looking in her eyes he gave a small playfully wicked smile and whispered "...engine room?"

Kaylee tore herself away from Simon long enuf to grab his hand and head for the engine room. Halfway there she had to stop to tear his shirt open to kiss all over his chest. "God Simon I want you so bad!" Then grabbing his hand again she just about ran to the engine room. She hit the override button for the door so that it could only be opened from inside and then facing Simon she pulled what remained of his shirt off.

Simon was nearly laughing while being dragged along by Kaylee to the engine room. He loved how much energy she had, which seemed to be when she was turned on, which meant that she was probably turned on most of the time.

"You're so beautiful Kaylee," he whispered as they made it into the engine room. As the door closed he pulled her close, pressing his body into hers as he undid the snaps to her overalls, slipping it down her body and moaned as he felt his skin touch soft body.

He kissed her hard and deep as he slipped his hands over her hips and pressed her back against the wall of the engine room, loving the idea of getting dirty in the engine room and being able to let himself go with the girl on the ship that he came to be infatuated.

Kaylee moaned into Simons' mouth as his hands oramed over her body. She stepped out of her overalls and then slid her panties off so she was standing naked in front of him. Then kissing his again she touched his hardening, straining penis thru his pants. "Umm Simon I think your pants need to come off!" She mewed. Simon hurridly complied and they both faced each other naked as jaybirds. Then Kaylee again touched his penis and ran her fingers across the silky tip. She smiled and bending down took him in her mouth.

As Daizen watched, the Alliance ship attached cables to the hull of the Firefly and started reeling it in. He rolled his eyes, and considered what he should do. In the end, he decided to wait and see what happened. The smaller vessel pulled to a standstill, then started to reverse direction. He knew they had to have felt the shock of it inside.
