~~~~~~~~Dr. Henry 'Hank' McCoy, Aka, The Beast~~~~~~~~
‘Hank, I want you to be my replacement, when I leave the job’
‘You what!’ I asked in plain surprise, he had never heard Nicolas Fury to be so, well abrupt was the only word he could think of.
‘Hank’ Said Nick, always the calm one, mildly scratching above his eye patch, ‘I am being serious, I am not as young as I used to be.’
I snorted, ‘Nick, you wont quit this job till your dead and buried, and sometimes I wonder, if that’s even gonna happen sometimes.’
‘Well Sorry for wanting to keep my bases covered Hank,’ He sighed, ‘Will you just register yourself or not, I can’t have one of those idiots running around destroying what I have worked so hard to achieve.’
I grinned, ‘But you’ll trust a stinkin Mutie?’
Nick laughed, a rare treat, ‘Will you do it or not.’
I gave in, ‘Fine, then I will, though the chances are I’ll die long before you old friend.’
He led me to the main computer and asked me to put my hand in the box. I did so, and almost simultaneously, the machine registered my DNA, fingerprints, and added it to my already present retinal, Voice and fingerprint records and then moved them to the special area, on which it would make me the automatic director of shield should Nick die.
It was then, when the raft rocked, as an explosion occurred. Nick was immediately at his comm., demanding to know what was going on. After a minute, he looked up at me, and whispered, ‘Someone’s breaking the prisoners out.’
He ran off towards the main prison, stopping only to yell at a young officer to activate the Distress beacon, and get all available officers down to the brig now.
I just ran, rapidly over taking him and reaching the prison first.
We were in deep shit.
