It's legal in this state to file for divorce on grounds of impotency. i wonder... If he's physically able, but i haven't let him close enough to have sex in over a year, does that count?

Um, no.

How about mental or physical cruelty? Given what I have heard about him, I assume you have avoided physical contact for reasons of your own safety.

Sounds like the cart before the horse.
Sorry, Shang.

Well yeah, but i talked to a lawyer about the hows and whyfors, and he said it probably wouldn't hold up. So i've been looking for something else.

Damn, that sucks. :rose:

Have you thought about moving to a 'no fault' state for a few months?

There's no fault here, but it entails 18 months of full separation.

In some states, no sexual relations counts as separation. I don't know if it is true of yours.

Drug his beer, dress him in a turkey suit and have him wander around in the woods.

Problem solved.

Nope. It has to be completely separate. Separate houses, separate sources of income, no contact... the whole bit.

Though i DO like Rob's solution. a lot.

You're welcome.

Isn't there like 'alienation of affection' or 'irreconcilable differences' or something like that?

Not here.

I never understand why divorce needed a specific reason. If you don't love each other, or one doesn't want to be married anymore, that to me seems like a damn good reason.

But marriage is a 'sacred institution'. To divorce would be to go against the will of God. (Insert vomiting smiley here)

Also, to divorce would be an admission of failure. And many people, mostly guys, would rather be miserably unhappy than admit they failed.

Not really, with that arguement? :catroar: lol

And in Texas, there is no such thing as legal separation at all. You're either married or divorced. That can be rough too.
