I had a job interview this evening, and it went well. I got an offer to start when they get moved into their new office. I will be making about the same money I am making now, and they will even help me get set up in a new place.

Yay! :D

Congrats! So happy for you. Good luck with everything.

"About the same kind of money?" They ripped you off, brother :) Leaving all your friends behind is worth a raise, and forcing you to deal with the Florida summer a second one.

Joking aside, congrats. Gainful employment is rare these days.

It's fine to be terrified, Thee, but you will adjust. I'm just back from a week in the Keys, and it is easy to adjust to sun and surf and fantastic seafood. If you need friends, their are many Litsters all over the state.

Good luck in the new job!

That is why I am going down there. To escape the New Jersey winters and have a deeply warm/hot summer.

Contract

Get the offer in writing! Had an experience like this and got screwed over . Moved two states away on a handshake and ended up without a job...

Everyone and his life partner comes to Florida, goes broke, and leaves sadder and wiser.

I need to put together a list of things I need to buy when I get down there...

From what I have read, Florida isn't exactly homogeneous. Rednecks here, Cubans there, Northern retirees all around, and Key West ain't Miami which ain't Orlando which ain't Jacksonville which ain't Tallahassee. Where do you think you'll land?

The niggers own all the cities, Trump voters own the burbs, and the fags own all the state colleges.

The office is currently in Del Ray and moving 8 minutes up the highway.

I will try to move within 20 minutes drive of that.

I am so fucking terrified...
We retired to Florida in 1994. Checked out many places and only wanted a few acres, privacy, and schools for an adopted rugrat. No jobs to worry about.
Sadly we lasted 23 years then got old. Moved back to midwest kickin and screamin like spoiled brats.
You'll notice a lot of old retired people from everywhere except Florida. Watch out for most of them. The Florida natives we met are friendly nice people.
It won't take you long to figure what cities to avoid. It's really a jungle out there and living in one of the swamps is actually safer.

Good luck. You'll love it wherever you end up.

Youll be sorry.
As long as he's not your Tampa neighbor he'll do fine.

We sadly left after 23 years in NW Florida, west of Gainseville. Loved every minute of it. We only moved because our kids begged us old folks to return home. Where we lived 99% spoke English, some redneck English, but we could understand it. People of every race and color were friendly.
Just stay out of the druggy neighborhoods and off the New Yawker's beaches.

From the little we've been there it's fine, probably the same income level costs as where you are.

Be sure to go north and check out the Federal nude beaches. There might be stories to be written in your future.
