I will not read your fucking script

Change this for lit

I will not write your story idea no matter how many times you send it to me.

for me its more a case of, i've really put in the hours, taken to time to put criticism as gently as possible, sandwiched it in compliments, googled the right terminology so they know what i'm talking about only to have my head bitten off or worse, the persons never spoken to me again.

maybe i'm just not as sensitive as i think i am?

With few exceptions I do not read LIT stuff. One or two writers are made of the right stuff (LOVECRAFT) and can handle my feedback (which is mostly good) but most cant. I don't solicit feedback but one reader suggested I oughta post my stuff to non-erotic, and I'm thinking it over. To me erotic is whatever isn't medical/health science.

Its a case of people saying "I want to know what you really think" butt really meaning "just tell me how awesome I am"

You see it here people starting threads pissed about a negative remark yet they also received a lot of good feedback. But that negative one owns them

Its a case of either very thin skin or simply being so arrogant they cannot concieve of how anyone cannot think they are the best ever

I liked this; it set me thinking:-

It rarely takes more than a page to recognize that you're in the presence of someone who can write, but it only takes a sentence to know you're dealing with someone who can't.

It strikes me that those of us who struggle (story line, language, POV, etc.), may sometimes be asked to read someone else's story. I don't feel competent to pontificate on a story; all I can do is say whether I liked it or even understood it. Predictably, there are types or classes of story I'm not keen on (in my case, GM or BDSM, for example).

It's all rather worrying.

I really just want someone to tell me how awesome I am. I assure you that it never gets old :D However, I'll listen politely if you want to tell me what you really think instead.

I have had the opportunity to read a few stories and comment to the author and had editors review my own work in the years I have been here. I understand the point of the OP.

I also have been on the other side of that as an author looking for help.

Here on Lit it is a two way street, where you vote on stories and there is only one category, Like or Not in five steps?

We have Grammar Nazis and our very own Curmudgeon to give us steerage, but very little loving support.:(

"I have good news and bad news." The Sargent said.

"What's the good news?"

He smiled and said, "We are on our own."

"What's the bad news?" asked Corporal Klinger, a pessimist.

The Sargent frowned, "Well, we are on our own."

So as you wander the phosphors of the interwebz in search of divine inspiration remember the words of that long lost Sargent.

"You are on your own, deal with it!"
