By my own child.

He announced to me that just as he suspected there was no Tooth Fairy. He lost a tooth yesterday, didn't tell me, hid it under his pillow and when he woke up he saw that he didn't have any money.

He trolled me all evening, making blatant accusations to my actually being the Tooth Fairy.

He slipped it back under his pillow just before bedtime and announced that he hoped that I don't forget to put the dollar under there before I go to sleep.

Really I think he should grow up to be a lawyer.

Put the dollar under YOUR pillow and tell him that the tooth fairy left it there because she wanted to let you know about the tooth? Maybe? Or somewhere else, like under his bed...and tell him he must have just knocked it out in his sleep?

Don't put one there tonight either...then tell him the Tooth Fairy went on strike and now she wants to be paid to collect teeth.

Actually I've done that before, several months back when I forgot to pay. I can't help that I'm old and have CRS. lol

He'll be 11 in three months.. I'm surprised that he's bought it this long.

I gave him an extra buck tonight out of guilt :)

Well I told him that parents need to phone the tooth fairy to tell her she has a pickup and since he didn't tell me she wasn't called.

That's when he informed me that he'd told his father on the way home after school. Ugh! lol

Get All Dressed Up In Yer Bestest Fairy Clothes

And Barge Into His Room With Glitter, A Flashlight And Ten Bucks. Shine The Light On Him, Throw The Glitter At Him And Speak Like Belinda The Good Witch Handing Him The Cash. Then Leave Closing The Door Behind You. Run Ta Yer Room And Change Quickly Into A Robe And Lay Down To Pretend Reading For When He Comes Screaming Ta Yer Room:D

Deny Everything!

Tape a note to the dollar bill...apologizing for being late with it because of traffic. ;-) Signed, The Tooth Fairy

LOL! I have used the STRIKE excuse when the tooth fairy was too damn tired by the time she dragged her sorry butt to bed.

(As well as, "Gee, it was foggy out last night!")

*edited to add* But I like RNAB's idea best. Take pictures. :D

Oh gods, I can't wait til the oldest monster pulls that tooth!!!!!

She promised she'll do it tomorrow. I'm gonna start begging her to put it under her pillow.

I have heard a dollar bill mentioned a few times here....by people that obviously DONT HAVE KIDS!

I wish the tooth fairy only cost a dollar.

First tooth?

His first one was stubborn and I was more excited about the Tooth Fairy than he was...

Finally I applied pliers to the tooth, he freaked and jerked his head back.. the tooth came right out. O:)

It's obvious that I have a child, and that is what he gets per tooth. After his initial tooth loss that is.

I have two. The one who is actually of tooth losing age gets a dollar coin for each tooth.

Nope. This will be #3. The first one, I had to pull. The second, she pulled on the school bus and gave to me when she got home. This one, she's got all planned out. "I'll pull it right before dinner on Wednesday night."

The tooth fairy practically has to leave a visa card around here.

I think it's outrageous, but I inhereited three kid's that dont know the value of a dollar.

I reccomend setting up a straight cash for teeth exchange like my parents did when I was about the same age. The Tooth Fairy bit was fun, don't get me wrong, but it just saved us all the hassle of teeth and pillows and making sure I didn't drool all over my cash.

I think it's a fair exchage. You want the teeth as mementos, and frankly if a child can be said to have any property whatsoever he's teeth definately qualify.

I think you’ve been conned, it’s the going rate with all the “Tooth Fairies” I know.

You guys are missin' the boat here. In my house, when children start questioning the existence of such gift-givers as the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus, they are reminded that if you don't believe in them, they cross you off their list and you get NADA.

(Remember in Peter Pan when the audience has to clap and scream because they BELIEVE and it brings Tinkerbell back to life? -- Think along those lines....)

SOOOOOO, my kids (as adolescents) had to go to elaborate means to convince me that did indeed believe. Okay, over the years it's become all "wink wink" as the kids play Mom's game. It is getting rather difficult to come up with Santa Claus gifts for a 26-yr old. I can imagine when I become a grandmother someday my kids will whisper to their kids about how goofy Grandma believes in the Easter Bunny and you mustn't break the spell.
