I took my wife in for her yearly Mammogram today. The weather was nearly perfect so we took the bike. We left the helmets in the cargo box but we did carry our leathers in with us.

I'm sitting in the waiting room surrounded by pregnant women and reading a magazine when my wife comes out. She is completely freaked out, sobbing on my shoulder. It took a bit but it finally came out.

The Mammogram Tech. had made the comment "Well this isn't good" just before telling her to go out and wait for the Doctor to call her. Then as he walked her out to the waiting room he told her he was sorry.

I finally got her calmed down a bit and we waited. When she was called my wife insisted I go with her muc to the consternation of the R.N. The M.D. tok one look at my wife and asked her what had happened and then shook her head when she heard. She told my wife that evrything was just fine, her Mammogram had come back exactly the same as last years and the ones before that. (They have a Radiologist on premises.)

Then the M.D. looked at me standing there behind my wife and picked up her phone. She asked for two people to come over to her office. When they did she introduced them to me. One of them was the Radiologist and the other was the Tech. She then explained to the Radiologist what had happened as the tech looked at me. The Radiologist asked my wife a couple of questions then turned to the tech and informed him he was fired. When the tech started to protest the Radiologist asked him if he would prefer to be fired or to face me. The tech turned and walked out of the room.

Both my wifes M.D. and the Radiologist appologised to my wife about what had happened.

I am sorry for you & the wife to go through that.
I am glad they fired the tech, hopefully it is permanant.
That was a nasty "joke" to play.

...still would have at least picked the ass up by the shirt collar...

Good for you, Cat.

Some people don't know when to keep their yaps shut.

My best to your lovely wife. :)

hugs to you both... and I would still like to hear an update that you kicked ass.

That is so fucking weird! What possessed him to say anything like that, I wonder?

The fact that they didn't even ask for his side of the story suggests to me that they weren't completely surprised by it. Bastard.

Glad that she gets her yearly exam. Even better that it turned out ok! I wonder what the hell the tech was thinking!?

Yes the wife is just fine. According to the Radiologist and the M.D. she has several Fibroid Lumps in her breasts, (which we already knew,) and they hadn't changed.

Also according to the M.D. this was not the first complaint registered about the tech., but it was the first where the people making the complaint were still there, and the first where one of the people making the complaint was threatening bodily harm. (The M.D. knows me and was worried that I would commit mayhem.)

As for me being a lightening rod, maybe I am and maybe I'm not. Then again maybe I'm just one of those who looks around me and sees and is willing to tell about it.

Because I drive through certain areas downtown a lot, as in almost every day, I get to see many things most people don't. I have complained about a lot of these things to the local government with no responses. Then I started takaing pictures and sending them in with my complaints. This got no response so I added the comments that these pictures would be sent with all documentation, (Time, Place and date) to the local news stations. Those streets now have a lot more police on them and the crime in those areas has dropped.

To understand what my county is like you have to live here. It is truly amazing as well as surprising. One of the best comments I have heard about this county was from a Sherrifs Deputy on Cops. In half an hour you can go from downtown where you are dealing with shooting, rapes and Crack Houses to back country where you are dealing with Red Necks, Gators and swamps.

Yea sometimes it does take a huge amount of effort in order to clean up an area. A lot of people know Virginia Beach as a huge tourist attraction, but if you actually live here [Norfolk is the next town over], you know the truth behind it. Only a few years ago, this place was covered in gang wars, drugs, and what have you. They had to make serious crackdowns over here in order to get it to where it is today, and even today, you drive through most of Va Beach, and its still ghetto town USA .

You say redneck like it's a bad thing

Is it?

To some it is and to some it isn't.

I am a Redneck and I'm proud of it. Then again I know wheere the term originated.

To some a Red Neck is a racist ignorant yokel. To others a Red Neck is just a Blue Collar worker.

Me I'm a Blue Collar Worker who happens to have a bit of an education.

I fit that, including the neck color :D

As to what happened to your wife? I might have tried to kick that SOB so hard his balls came out his nostrils :D

Sorry you and the missus had to go through that SC.

Don't think it's that unusual. I got the same when I had an MRI for asbestosis, the techy asked me how long I'd had it before the doctor had even mention asbestosis. In his case, I think it was 'showing off'. I was so shocked I didn't complain. The doc took one look at the scans and pronounced it benign, the clever little techy, if he was so clever, could have told me the same rather than scare the s*** out of me. On the doc's pronouncement, I was too relieved to complain. Hey... it's still benign... what the f*** have I got to complain about.

Well, what you have to complain about, is a doctor's employee making a medical diagnosis that he is not qualified to make.
