I just read this sentence in a book:

...you should never say something around a dying person that you didn’t want them to hear, since hearing was the last of the senses to go.

I just wanna know, who the fuck did they ask?

It's not like you can say "So, dead guy, tell me the last thing you remember."

Anybody know where they came up with this?

People who were unconscious and survived "near death experiences" (no heartbeat or unassisted respiration) have accurately reported conversations of medical personnel in the trauma room and even among family members immediately removed from the treatment area.

Perhaps from the blind policemen who shot the two dead boys who got up to fight in the middle of the night.

Make sure they're really dead before you speak.

BANG!

"Okay, she's dead, we can talk now."

assessment probably figured this out. so, the patient is dying and does not open eyes or respond with any purpose. a whisper into the ear of the dying and the heart rate and respiratory rate increases momentarily. i guess that they can hear even if they can not understand. i don't know.
