with the weird name, you know the one that begins with N...

But I've just got home and what do I find? We're still fighting for the fucking place...

OK George if you don't get this done and dusted in double quick time...

Look for another job...

Well soreeee...

I thought the whole stupid, unjustified war was being fought as a coalition and that what one does we all do...

Or do you now think it's only America, when it takes time off from shooting and bombing allies, is the one dying for the cause of...

Remind me I've forgotten why we're fighting now...

Turn your hearing aid up p-p.
They said they "had control", which to me means something different to "had taken".

That wasn't my implication. I support all the coalition troops, and I'm sure you know that.

I was asking who "we" was because I wanted to know if you posting to Lit while on the front lines. :)

Part of the problem with Nasiriya is the fact that there are literally thousands of archeological sites in the are that we are trying to avoid destroying.

Of course, if we went in and destroyed them, you'd be one of the first yelling, wouldn't you pp?

Go ahead and admit it, nothing the US administration does will ever be enough in your eyes.

Now that's true enough...

Bush and his cronies will never be able to justify themselves in my eyes.

They even look like a shifty, sneaky bunch of conmen...

It's been FIVE DAYS.

And you're bitching.

Jesus Christ, man, we couldn't do this faster with a nuclear weapon.

And that would give p_p_ something else to complain about

not to mention the reprocutions from the fall out

Well anyway...

learning from the experience gained in this war so far, Basra is now designated a target city...

I don't reckon that's going to win the hearts and minds of the people.

I know it's only five days and in that time we've done far better than I expected. But Bush made the mistake of raising everyone's expectations that this would be quick, precise and surgical. Now he's preparing America for a longer, less precise and less surgical type of war.

So whilst we're going to need every warrior we can muster for the Battle of Baghdad, a substantial number will be taken up with the Battle of Basra.

And even now, after these five days, there have been no mass exodus of refugees to Jordan (in fact not one refugee has passed throught the main border control), no mass rejoicing by the civilians, no mass defections from the military and no popular uprising against Saddam.

All things Bush's Administration forecast would happen...

Oh, don't even start with failed predictions, unless you want me to dig up all six million of your Bush/war threads and rip through them one by one.

Like I said, it's now been SIX DAYS.

You were willing to give how much time for Saddam to disarm, but you'll only give the disarmers six days to demonstrate tangible victories?

You can take your double standards and cram them right up your self-righteous arse.

The citizens of Basra are rising up against their Iraqi Baathist oppressors, so yes, any help from us WOULD make them happy since liberation from Saddam is their goal.
