I thought Jordan was supposed to be a safe(r) place?

The article specifies that the attack occurred right on Jordan’s border with Syria - so not exactly "safe”.
Side note:
It does appear someone at that base was complacent or asleep at the controls.
In this actively hostile climate and region, where drones are becoming a go to method of attack, how the fuck does a drone get through???
Or did that base not have adequate air defense capabilities???
