My oldest was a member of 'Young Democrats' in High School ... very proud of the fact her history teacher was a Democrat legislator, and had gotten an A for her obediently submitted treatise on her 'rights', a topic also assigned and a favorite subject.

She got a part time job, and was looking forward to buying MANY new clothes. She was a math whiz, and had a good amount of information on what each item she planned to buy with that first check cost. Down to the penny.

She went a little apeshit when the first check was about half what she expected. "Who took my MONEY!" She came to me, tearful as hell, wanting to get help in getting HER MONEY back from whoever stole it. I pointed out that those items on her paystub explained where it all went... Federal tax, state tax, local tax, FICA (social security), tax this, tax that..... if you've worked, you know the list....

I also reminded her that she had spent the last several months espousing how good and reasoned not only these collections, but the numerous others she had been making cases for hadn't even been taken yet, but certainly could be deducted further with her help and that of her little liberal do-gooder friends.

To this day, she is a staunch conservative, who now believes strongly in personal responsibility....

A liberal is simply a conservative who hasn't recognized yet that the government is NOT your friend.
