A panic button.

For bosses or children or spouses or just noisy people.

I think it would make our time on here much more fun if we didn't have to worry about someone seeing what we are doing, or if we can hit the minimize button in time!

Just a few samples...

Maybe we should start up a petition?

I think it would be spiffy, but when I'm at work and my boss walks up, I just open something from my taskbar over it. It's faster and I don't have to scroll the page looking for a button or aim my cursor at the - to minimize.

Ah well.. It really doesn't matter to me, as the only time I am on-line is when I am alone.. can't at work, and the kiddies are either gone or asleep.

lol.. but just how would the panic button work??

I am thinking something like just a windows screen would come up....or something looking like a spreadsheet, or other type of work.

These are things the computer people would have to figure out. I just come up with the ideas!

Wouldn't do any good.

You'd still have to wait for the page it sent you to to download.

And if at work, they don't get what they know on you from coming in suddenly to look over your shoulder, they get what they know from company logs on the server and from the ability to sit in their office and have their monitor show all activity on any employee monitor in realtime.

Potential Case Studies:
1. The log for a week shows 1375 hits to some site called 'Literotica' which the business clearly doesn't do any work with. With a simple command, click, or whatever the Sys admin can get a full report of who's been there, when, and for how much bandwitdh up/down.

2. Manager is bored, decides to -ghost- around on a few employee screens and see that everyone is being productive. FInds himself watching 'Harvey' reading something called "Amelia and her naughty puppy' and can sit there and watch Harvey scrolling on the screen, watch as harvey types in a user name and password, capture a log of keystrokes to get the password, and collect it all for future use against Harvey who is obviously NOT working on the financial report...

Both items that are standard software in corporate America.

For home, the panic button idea could be useful. But not as something within the browser.

I use the litestep shell on my PC, and it has virtual screens. THis essentially means I have 16 monitors in front of me right now, but I can only see them one at a time.

I hit the window button and an arror key to move between them, or right click in one of 16 squares on the bottom of my wallpaper.

So in an instant I can be in a totally different monitor window with completely different apps showing.

Mostly it's just handy if I have a LOT of stuff going on, like when I'm writing, working on art, programming, and posting to the web all at the same time...
