...over crimbo. Robert Downey and Stephen Fry as Mycroft. Gotta be a winner.

I don't like the flash backs, montage, and other devices employed in the previous Sherlock Holmes, so even though I am into steampunk, I won't be seeing this one.

Fry is Mycroft!?! How is it that this is the first I'm hearing of this?

I thought the first one was nice enough but don't have a ton of interest in this one.

Granted that Robert Downey Jr is a good actor but Jeremy Brett is a great Sherlock.

I am in the camp that thinkis Downey is great, but not great as Holmes. When I was reading all the Holmes stories I had to blinker myself to Rathbone as the icon, and Brett as well. Still, I'm guilty of seeing Rathbone when I read the stories.

Thus I freely admit that Downey is very far from ideal. I do like that he has introduced a martial art I studied (wing chun) to the Holmes repertoire, but still he is a bit distant from who I want in the role.

Hey, Sean, have you seen Tin Tin?

As anyone seen the more recent series with Benedict Cumberbatch as Holmes and Martin Freeman as Watson? They've updated it to modern London.

And Brett was awesome as Holmes. I'm a fan from way back on that one. Too bad Brett is no longer with us.

I noticed that on Netflix and thought it odd but that then Freeman has been very busy of late playing Bilbo, LOL. I have it in my queue and am looking forward to checking it out. The Holmes stories are old favorites and I'm rather sensitive about the portrayals.
