Slightly gross health problem here...not for the queasy or easily addled.
Beginning from the beginning: On June 4 I had my annual pelvic exam. I bled a tiny little bit afterwards, but that's not unusual for me. Didn't think anything of it. The bleeding didn't really stop though. It was just very, very light, and I actually attributed it to premenstrual spotting because I had taken the pill continuously for 2 months to skip my period, and I know you can spot because of that.
Then skip forward to this last weekend. My boyfriend and I stayed at his cabin. We had sex twice on Saturday and once Sunday evening. Almost immediatly after we had made love on Sunday, I was just FREEZING cold. Shaking and everything. By the time I got home I had a fever and body aches.
I still didn't think too much of it...every time you get a fever you don't run to the ER, do you? Thought it was a bad coincidence, a fluke virus or something. I just took some Tylenol and crashed. Monday morning I woke up, the fever was gone, and I thought I was fine. Weird 24 hour thing or something.
Until I went to the bathroom, where I almost passed out. In the toilet, and on the paper, was a HUGE amount of yellow discharge. So then, I DID go to the ER. Well, not the ER, but the walk in part of the hospital. They did a bunch of tests and were almost certain it was chlamydia. Sent me home with doxycyclene and Cipro.
I got the cultures back yesterday...everything was negative. It's not chlamydia, gonorrhea, bacterial vaginitis, a yeast infection or a bladder infection. But I'm still sick. In fact, I'm getting worse. My lower stomach and my back hurt, and I'm running an on again off again fever, and I STILL have just as much nasty crap around as I did to start with...I have horrible visions of PID in my head.
I'm going back to the Dr. this afternoon. I talked to my boyfriend last night, who has some medical/scientific training, and he suspects it's something I picked up at my annual exam, probably Staph aureus, and the additional cervical trauma of having sex was what tripped it. If I picked it up in a clinic, it's probably some lovely resistant strain too.
I'm scared out of my fucking wits here...anyone ever have anything similar? What was it? How did you treat it? Any other ideas, even if you've never had this kind of problem, as to what I should ask about?
