I think I may have started the LOTR of erotica.

Hello all.

My user name is Timewaitsfornone. My story is "To Hell and Back Again". The genre is fantasy/steampunk.

Just for reference, my writing experience is in traditional sci-fi/fantasy. Thus, I am inclined toward in-depth world-building and a slow burn toward some form of epic conclusion. By contrast, this is my first go at erotica. Just for fun, ya know?

Welp, it seems that my initial effort in erotica is rapidly developing into a similar novel-length format.

I am excited at the plot thats beginning to develop in my head and on my keyboard but my question to you folks with more experience in the erotica realm is this:

Am I out of my friggin tree? Is there viable interest in the world of erotic fiction for a multi-dimensional pirate crew fighting to prevent Ragnarok? Or am I chasing airplanes?

Here is my story link. https://www.literotica.com/s/to-hell-and-back-again-ch-01

Your thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated. I would be happy to provide a similar critique in return if you want input on your own work.

Cheers!

Never give up

Very good question, I am looking forward to the responses.

I also tend to write High Fantasy.

I had started several stories that I intended to be romance, or erotica, that turned into a High Fantasy blend.

Determined that I had to adhere strictly to the format for Romance, or Erotica, I tossed them aside and began again, and again, and again. I grew frustrated gave up and quit writing for a bit.

Despite what publishers tell us, I think that there may indeed be a market for such stories.

I am going to add your story to my reading list, and I am looking forward to reading it.

Happy Holidays to you and yours.

I think you are chasing airplanes. Real LOTR erotica is hot, though. It was obvious Galadriel craved Barad-dûr.

No question, there's an audience for what you want to write. I looked over your submissions and scanned the first chapter. You've gotten off to a good start. Your readers obviously like your stories and your scores are great. Chapter 1 has 21 favorites on only 4000+ views -- that's an excellent ratio. It means you are connecting and readers want more.

You obviously know how to write. Something I like is that you include a lot of figurative language -- similes and metaphors. Sometimes, if you are not careful, they can get out of hand, but this kind of writing works better in this genre than it does in others, and you have some turns of phrase I like. I get the feeling from what I've read that you are having fun writing the story. That's something readers pick up on.

Good start!

Your last chapter has a rating of 4.93. That's unheard of in most categories. You might get fewer views for SF/Fantasy than many other types of stories, but you obviously found your crowd. You also have a very nice flow to your writing. Go forth and conquer, I say!
