I think I like being an "Indian" rather than a "Chief"....

All my adult life, if I was a part of an organization, I was either running it or on the executive committee. I finally gave up on organizations about 10 years ago when I came to the conclusion that I was getting very little satisfaction and a lot of aggravation for my efforts.

Recently, dr. blue and I have discovered that being an "Indian" can have a lot of satisfaction attached to it, while at the same time the level of responsibility is markedly decreased. Both of us are now involved in community theater. I am part of the crew that constructs and tears down the sets for the plays. I also help taking tickets at the door and selling pop and candy at intermission. I do what I'm told and I love it. I'm even learning a bit of carpentry.

In the past, dr.blue acted in amateur theater. Now, she's playing bit parts instead of starring roles. She loves it as much as I love dong what I do. And neither of us is a "Chief".

I agree, blue.

The pressure is off.

You can actually relax and therefore enjoy the opportunities more.

I used to always get pushed into organizing get togethers, social events, etc. I pass on them now, and just show up as one of the crowd.

Very liberating.

I'm a Leo.

We have to be in charge or we are not happy.

I don't really know if the astro sign is part of it or not. But I can't stand working for idiots. So I'd rather be the boss. Then I can be the idiot.

The quality of the "chief" certainly does determine the enjoyment of being and "indian," doesn't it?
