I've been looking for a new apartment, and found a great one that I applied for. They just called and told me I got it - but since I hadn't released my own apartment before 1st of August, I'll have August-September-October as my Leaving Period, and I need to start paying rent for the new one from 1st of October. Now, unless someone is interested in this apartment and wants it from 1st of October, I'll be stuck paying for TWO apartments!

Please keep your fingers crossed!

I gotta start cleaning up and make the place look fresh now... :(

Couldn't you try and talk to your landlord? Maybe he'll let you out of your contract sooner. If not, I hope someone will rent your place as soon as possible. One month of double payment should still be alright. Three months would suck.

But if you really got the appartment you were looking for now, it may be worth it.

By the way, great AV !

Oh, good luck!

My husband and I did that when we bought our house. We still had three months left on the lease for our apartment - it was insane.

I put up notices all over the campus about sub-letting our place for those three months. Being grad students we knew our place (on the edge of town, big place, quiet area) would only attract similar types of students.

We had only one call, but luckily, they wanted the place.

Good luck - I'll keep my fingers crossed!

I've tried, but the rules state that unless someone is willing to move in OCtober 1st, I have to pay for the entire month, although I'm not living there. :(

Thanks for noticing my AV. I was waiting for a reaction. :cathappy:

I have no say in who gets the apartment after me, but I can put up signs at the uni and recommend people to contact the landlord. Thanks, sarahh. :rose:
