Watching a lot of these car chases on the news that ends in the guy/gal making a run for it crashing into some innocent victim I have come to one conclusion.

Every single one of the victims should be treated and stabalised before a single resource goes into treating the runaway drivers injuries, regardless of how badly he/she is injured.

yup, I think I am getting colder and calouser each day.

I think most of us would agree with you.

Isn't this the way it's handled? It should be.

I watched one of those shows last night. Giving the Pros and Cons of police chases. It had the story of the border patrol chase that killed those school kids out in Cali.

Man I've done it. It is one big thrill ride for a cop, driving or riding. Siren going, lights. Tunnel vision. Man against man. You forget about everybody else on the road. And it is very dangerous for everybody else on the road. It really was fun. I got more out of breath in a car chase than I did in any foot chase.

A one man car should never chase. The rider becomes the eyes of the driver, calling out clear left! So forth and so on. One person can't do it.

While watching this show last night I came to this conclusion.

1. We need clear guidelines for what level of crime we allow chases for. We don't need to kill people because someone's tail light is out. Or because they shoplifted a case of beer from the local 7-11.

2. After considering number one, if the police are going to chase someone, then it should be an all or nothing thing. Kill the fucker, blow his ass off the road with a LAW (light anti-tank weapon, extend the tube, point, shoot, boom), screw the stop sticks. Place snipers in his route and shoot him in the head. Stop him as soon as possible by any means possible. Or don't chase the bastard. No more 40 mile chases, or chases that last hours. End it now. Fast and furious. Then see how many people are in a hurry to try and get away.

And if you got a damned helicopter on 'em. Stop the cars. When he parks, call in the dogs.
