It would appear that all the perverts have gotten out of church and are now here on Lit by the way the site is stuttering.

Oh well, the more perverts the merrier.

This is 2020, the perverts are all reading porn on their phones in church.

heh. Imagine what church'll be like once we get internet access via implants. . . "And now, we will hear from" "OH GOD! OH GOD! IT'S SO GOOD!" "James McIlver! You stop hacking the speakers RIGHT NOW!"

If you're talking about your story this morning every story I checked was getting slammed. The trolls have got spring fever.

You’re correct. The trolls do seem to be hungry at the moment and it’s annoying but there’s nothing anyone can do about it. Hopefully, providing it’s possible, Manu has it set up for stories being automatically swept when they leave the front page. If not I hope he looks into setting something up.

If you’ve got a thousand stories under your belt and the majority have a red sign alongside them it’s an annoyance but nothing compared to how a new writer feels.

Say they’ve had four stories and each are around 4.6. They will feel great. The fifth one goes up and the first ten votes put it on 4.7. Boy, do they feel good. Then a couple of trolls hit them with I’s which sends the story down to 4.08. They know people like their story but that doesn’t compensate for the two cretins. They wish they could get them by the neck or, if they are in the USA, shoot them.

But, and I was told this when I first began writing, if you complain about it on the forum the trolls will attack and they’ll probably hit all your stories. So sit back and hope for a sweep to come to the rescue. Although you can’t depend on that happening, and if it doesn’t happen, live with it.

Well, if you mean the Loving Wives story - that's to be expected.

I must seem dense, but I assume x.xx means you hid the score. I've seen them before, but I never read that it was option.

I've gotten a 2 and a 2.75 on a couple of stories. I don't care; I still like what I wrote anyway. I've gotten some critical comments that were actually helpful but it took some time to realize that.

New stories are all showing the xxxx symbols when they start out. The hub shows the last updated score. It just started a week or so ago. There are other problems too. Stories in the hub but not on the authors list and the reverse (although that might have been a volume thing) Not sure what's going on.

I think they've been changing things to adapt to higher traffic rates. Lower update frequencies probably reduce the load on the servers, which lets the servers put more time into serving content to readers.

I always look at the published stories section of - what is that called, the home page? That has a numerical score from the very beginning.

On the site side, the x.xx shows until you get 10 votes. After that, the trolls have their target.

Hadn't figured that part out. I knew they changed at some point but not why.

Thanks.

No, the site is actually stuttering. I have a gigabit network connection in 5G, no site ever stutters. They flash up like the network and my computer knew two days ago that I wanted that specific page.

As for the assholes slamming my stuff... I used to get a laugh out of them, but with all that's going on in the world, fuck'em.

If the story had been around a while x.xx means the author has turned off voting. And yes I have up until today turned it off on some stories. As of today all voting and commenting is turned off. I just stopped giving a shit what assholes and stupid people think.

Ahh, misread that. Yes, my experience is the same. A week or so ago it was loading instantly and now it's lagging. Taking 10 seconds or longer to resolve. Time of day seems to affect it too. Evening being the worst.

it appears to need more than that. In the LW section Richard Gerald's new story has over 1400 votes since last night but the public author page still has the xxx label. Obviously there is an update process that has to run. I wonder about the author working page though? If it's showing xxxx for the first 24 hours I'd be pissed.

I think they've changed things so the scores on the public profile are only updated once a day.

I've also noticed that the author's profile doesn't reflect the score until the next day.

The control panel still updates frequently.

Are we talking about the same thing here. The author's side is where the stories get submitted, score and comments show. Is that what you're referring to by the control panel?

And the hub only updates infrequently. That could leave a story getting bombed from getting read.

I think the hubs are probably updated at the same frequency they did before, but I can't really tell.
