pool is very popular here as well - the difference being that pool is played throughout the country mainly in pubs - whereas snooker being a more specialised game is played in bespoke snooker halls - where you usually have to be a member

Snooker used to be very popular on telly in the 80's - but has wained a bit now- it is a very difficult game and the Brits are the world champs by a long way - I think there has only been one non British worlds champ ever - Cliff Thorburn in early 80's who is a Canadian

Pool is 2 types of game in the UK. I think.
One is played with 2 colours of ball, eg red and yellow, and the other is American pool with numbered balls which have to be put in the pockets in the right order.
Then we have snooker. It's an amazing cure for insommnia. One friend I know was having it real hard sleeping due to shift changes in his work, so ended up recording snooker, on the principle that a 'fresh' game of snooker aides sleep, so a game that you have already watched will work miricles! Snooker involves people hitting the balls into the pockets in a specific colour order.
Oh the fun
Given as I lose to parelitically drunk people when I am sober, pool is a fun game, but not one I am any good at.
