I need

Me too... over a month and not a word written other than on this board... *sigh*

Purp may have something, you know.

Tom Robbins suffered writer's block for many many years... you know why? Because he gave up drinking.

Writing is what happens when my soul is breathing.

I get two good sentences and then I stop. It's frustrating and it's getting me really upset.

step away from it, for now.
Read something distracting.
You need to clear your mind.

Perky's suggestion might work. Meditating might work.

But what the fuck do I know.. I've got about 40 pages of my novel written and I'm blank...

But you know what?

"Writing is what happens when my sould is breathing." Is a hell of a great line.

KM, I have a technique that I use. May not work for you, but it works for me.

I just type it all out. No spelling cares, syntax, what the fuck is that? Punctuation? That's for wimps. I just get the whole story/chapter out and down on paper. (well, crt) I'll go back and 'pretty' it up in a day or two. But I get the "gut" down as quick as I can.

Like I said, it's a technique that I use.

Fuck it.
Get off your computer, Muffie.
I'm gonna call you now. I'll tell you my woes, you tell em yours, we'll laugh and giggle, and then you'll write.

the most perfect suggestion by far.

I run into writer's block a lot. This may or may not help, but what I do is open a fresh document and write what's on my mind. Even if I'm writing "I'm bored I'm bored I'm bored" over and over again, eventually something unlocks, and the words start coming. I may not end up writing what I wanted to get done that day, but it's catharsis.

Sometimes there's just something else stuck in my head that needs to get out before I can get on with the business of telling a story. Sometimes, I'll write something about a character that has nothing to do with the work I'm trying to get done. In the end, I understand the character better than before, and I can make a fresh start. Sometimes the character snippet I've written ends up being exactly what my story needed. Sometimes not. Sometimes it ends up tossed out and forgotten, but I've lost nothing.

Your mileage may vary. This may not be helpful, but it's my two cents. That plus ninety-eight more will get you a cup of coffee so take it for what it's worth. :)

Log off the BB. Turn off your internet connection.

Get a cold frosty beverage. Place it near your computer.

Close the door. Lock it.

Open your word processor.

Sit in front of it.

Put your hands on keyboard. WRITE. Write anything. Write your grocery list. Write stream-of-consciousness. As soon as the flow gets going, move over to whatever you are working on. If you're still stalling on that, try working on another piece. But don't stop typing.

To write is to write is to write is to write is to write is to write.

I think Gertrude was recorded on an old piece of vinyl and the needle was jumping due to a scratch.

You've got vested interest Laurel, no fair... you want another kick ass KM story for lit!

heh heh... :D

*evil grin*

Nah, she may not even be writing erotica. I can't imagine why not, but it may happen.

KM, here's a thought: let yourself write crap. just do it, write something hackneyed and stupid and word and bad. or rewrite something you've read recently. don't write thinking about the end product, just get the gears turning. i find that helps a lot.
