I've got two vials of Trazadone I could lend you. When I have trouble hitting the Z's I take a 1/4 of a pill. So far I've done 3/4 of a pill in a month and a half. The VA keeps sending me the stuff. Urgh.
You could try one of those OTC sleep aids, like Sominex or whatever. Just treat it like it's something to use as a last resort. Or you could go and read some really bad stories here. I'm talking the ones that have the 1.27 rating. Besides mine. I'm really proud of my 1.23 ratings.
Make a list of everything you have to do. Then prioritize it by how important it is to you and how close to the deadline it is. Call the ones on the bottom of the list and explain that you've over-extended yourself and that you can't give it everything it deserves and that you're sorry. Perhaps in the future you'll be able to help in some way. Quit calling and cancelling when you feel relieved.
Then tape the phrase, "That sounds like a good project, but I'm over-extended right now so I can't participate" over your telephone. When someone asks if you can do something, read that verbatim to them.
Stand in front of the mirror and practice ways of saying a professional and polite, "No, I can't help you."
now this is right up my alley....
"valium or diazepam" very strong may leave you felling tired and drowsy the next day
Ativan or Lorezepam same as valium shorter acting and not quite as strong
xanax or alprazolam short acting used to treat anxiety
Restoril or temazepam sleeping pill effective but may leave you tired thte next day
dalmane or flurazepam same as restoril with regards to use and effects
Benadryl or diphenhydramine be careful with this one a fairly effective sleep aid BUT is 99% the same thing in all over the counter sleep aids watch you dont buy the same thing hoping for a new fix
meletonin...hormone naturally prodused by the body found in most health food stores harmless...effective take about 45 min before u want to sleep
valerian root another herb that can promote rest and sleep it ialso has muscle relaxant properties
ambien...prescription drug that is a sleeping agent usually short acting and wont leave you with a morning haze feeling
narcotics...not a good idea for sleep they will work but may leave you tired the next day and the rest the induce is not quality sleep
check with your doctor im sure he or she can reccomend something for ya!
I've never understood the type A personality. I just don't get how you can't say no to people. But then, I'm like a type Z or something. I say no to everybody.
take a holiday for about a year go somewhere where you cant be found back packing is a good idea ... most of your problems will be gone by the time you come back
I've gotten much better over the years at saying "no, I don't want to." I discovered I don't always need an excuse to say no. Just say it and stop talking, no explaining. "No, thank you, I think I'll pass on that" works great.
I try not to have to back out of something I've already said I'd do though. If things have gotten so hectic that it is necessary to do that, it is usually because my job has gone crazy. And that will be the reason I give. Most people understand.
Find something that you can do in short periods of time for relaxation. It can be reading a book, watching a half hour laughtrack TV show, visiting eBay, etc. When the stress of being over extended gets REALLY bad, duck out of life for half an hour and do something fun. The piles of crap will still be waiting for you when you get back, but a short attitude adjustment does wonders.
i just thought i'd add ... you have to decide what you want from life thats the hardest thing to do but once you have a plan of what you want go for it and dont let anything distract you or be added onto your plan .. make sure the plan is what you want not what others want of you
im going to put this in practice for myself after christmas
