I would like to add a smily to my posts...the signature place, also a line or two and I can't get it to work.

Oops. Guess I should have read the instructions. There's some extra code involved to post smileys in the signature line

Try lopping the brackets, the slash and the img off the front and back of your smiley address.
Then add <img src=" to the front.
And add "> to the end
