I need a corset.

Yum, I'm pretty sure I'm getting an underbust corset from the Timeless Trends e-bay store for X-mas. I've never worn anything more restrictive than renfair bustiers, and I really look forward to having a real corset with metal bones for a change.
Timeless Trends is on the new side (operating for a year or two) but they have developed quite a good reputation! They only have one style but they do it very well. LOL, I just looked at their store, and they have pictures of their corsets on models now! That's great, it looks even better than their old pictures!

That's not a corset; it's a vintage (or reproduction) open bottom all in one with trolly garters - it's done in powernet with minimal (if any) bones.

What you need to realize about images like that, though, is that even if she's not wearing steel, her body has been shaped by steel for years, which means to get THAT look, you need to do serious dieting/moderate tightlacing, anyway.

Historically, women got that look by putting on their first powernet girdle at age 10-12, and wearing it almost every day. It was a gentler (slower) form of waist training, but still waist training.

Oh, I know it's not a corset. That was my point. I think of corsets as more can-can dancer or something. It's garments like that I associate with the pinup look.

I'm pretty curvy and my waist is pretty tiny. Of course it's not that tiny, but I think I can pull off the look, more or less.

Etoile- I just read your response to my post on the blurt thread about corsets, I really meant no offense towards you or anyone who takes joy in corsets I was just frustrated at having to do research about something. Sorry.

It's okay, it was just kind of a harsh way to put it. Like if you asked a gardener for advice on your own garden, and they painstakingly explained it to you, and then you said "screw this, I'm going to let the weeds grow." It was just kind of unkind in that way. I hope you were able to find the corset you were looking for.

That's a cool bit of info.

Though something tells me that you have all sorts of interesting info on the history of underwear. My only contribution would be in regards to Jeremy Bentham, his preserved body, and the underwear he invented.
