Hello,

here is my situation and yes, I will try to keep it kind of short. I am an unpublished author but i do not write erotic literature. I found this site a while ago and just started looking around. The content of this site is very interesting to me as a person but as an author, well, i feel that i can not contribute and i need that feeling of "contributing". So here is my question for you authors. Is there a site out there that is just like this but with out the focus on erotic writing? the thing is i really love how they have set this site up and would just like it if i could find its twin. can anyone help me?
the features that this site has is truly nice to interact with, the forums, message boards, feed back etc....

Hmmm...

I'd give Lit a chance before you run off.

First off, many of the registered users here do not write and are active members of the Lit community, participating in a wide range of topical subjects, some, if not many, are non-sexual/non-erotic.

And there is, in fact, a Non-Erotic works category on Lit, if you are so inclined to publish some of your stuff there.

As for your question, a search of the internet will yield a plethora of free, non-erotic writing sites (sorry, I'm not going to steer you toward them).

Anyway, good luck in your search.

I have sought an answer to this question for a long wile and have yet to find a site run as well and with as many loyal readers as lit. But don’t despair. I have begun posting some of my mainstream stories in the Non-Erotic section and they have been getting a fairly decent response. There are not as many readers of non-erotic here but the stories do get read.

Try it and good luck.
:)

Right now there are something like 190,000 registered members of Literotica.com. Out of that number there are a total of about 20,000 who have ever submitted and had posted anything at all.

As one of the 20,000 I appreciate my readers. Without them, why bother? I also find the boards here an interesting diversion and have made a number of friends over the months I've been here.

The average Literotican is somewhat more intellegent and thoughtful than you will find in any of the chat rooms I've been in on MSN, Yahoo, AOL, Eyeball and others. So what does all this mean?

You are worried about "contributing". Don't you think by simply posting this thread you have contributed? Don't you think that by reading the stories and commenting either in the threads or privately by email or PM you are not contributing?

A lot of people who have never posted a story, picture or poem have found a home on Lit and in their own way, they are contributors. Speaking for myself, I appreciate each and every one of them.

I would suggest you take some time before looking for another site. Get involved with the threads and the people on here. We won't bite you. I really think you will find this is a good place for you.

And, BTW... Welcome to Lit

What they said...

And add my welcome to lit as well.

DS

PS: Hey! This is my 69th post, and I'm experianced now. Now that's a dirty slut.

Welcome!

I lurked around these boards for several months before posting.

The 'Authors Hangout' and the 'How To' boards are addictive.

Welcome to Lit rainyguy. Feel free to contribute non-erotic stories, I for one would be interested to read. Don't give up on your erotica skills yet though. Much as it may gall to say it, erotica is easy, relatively speaking.

Try reading the Writer's Resources section and you may find something that you can use.

I do know what you mean. I feel the same way myself. I keep wanting to run off and create literally.com or some such, but I think Laurel would rightly object to an inoffensive lit clone. And I really would want to clone everything about Lit, I love the set up right down to KM's rants. I would suggest that they create a sister site, but I suspect there just aren't enough hours in the day.

However i do suggest that you try writing a little erotica. Many of us write in other genres outside of Lit, and a little sex helps to add to the mix in so much other writing. Think of it as an exercise.
