That's it. I just miss my dog, and I decided to randomly put it on the board. I've been in college, so I haven't been able to see her very often, three times in four months, so here's a pic of her.

I miss my puppums :( :( :(

What a cutie! I'm sure she misses you, too. Only a couple of weeks left in the term, so soon you'll be together for the Holiday break.

:cattail:

That's a fine looking dog you have there. It's tough leaving animals behind when you can't take them where your'e going to live. He/she looks to be a terrier of some sort. :D

Thanks! I wish there was a dog smily, but this will have to do

She's actually a shiba inu-American eskimo mix

This last one is her, and my little sister tormenting her :D

I've always had cats with me, never dogs. Right now though, I've got this gorgeous basenji-terrier mix, who has been boarding with me for three months. His owner will probably be settled again at the end of the year and I'm going to be desolate when the dog goes... He's so loving, elegant, joyful. The cats like him, he likes them-- even at dinnertime. :D

Dude, there's a dog thread now? Sweet :D

My dog Cooper's totally awesome. I know every time I have to go away on business or something I miss the crap out of him, which would be fine except the little guy's an expert at emotional blackmail. Whenever someone leaves he treats it like a mortal injury, such a drama queen. And now that we're all in a house together he's taken to running into my bedroom- which looks out onto the front lawn- and stares at me through the window as I go. It's really pathetic ;)

Dogs truly are best friends. My favorite line about a dog came from my sister who once said "You know dog's might slip up and shit on the floor here and there, but they'll never shit on you the way people will."

I've owned German Shepard my entire life (In fact I just had to put one to sleep, he was 13 and had cancer) I currently have one who is 3.

The first one I owned I got when I was 14. I moved out at 17 and missed him far more than any family member. A few years later I would visit with my first wife and she was pregnant. Rocky would sit by her side and if anyone except me mad e a quick move towards her would growl.

When my daughter was born we would come over and put the car seat on the floor. Rocky would sit next to her and do the same thing. They are the definition of loyalty.

Adorable, certainly, but I see your photo and raise you one of my own ;)

I'm all in...

This is a great thread to wake up to on a cold day like today. Great pictures, everyone!
Thanks for sharing.

I know just what you mean about leaving. It breaks my heart every time I go out of town on business.

We have three:

Black Pug - 'Weezy', 16yo

Sable/White Shetland Sheepdog - 'Shelby', 6yo

Tri Miniature Australian Shepherd - 'Koda', 1yo

Aw, CruelToBeKind, you'll get puppy snuggles soon! She's sweet. Love everyone's furbaby pics!

Currently living with 3 dogs, 2 cats, 2 horses, 1 miniature horse, 9 alpaca, 4 guinea hens. Only one that's missing is my sweet bird baby, Falcor. He died a couple of months ago at a good old age of 11 (for a cockatiel). I still think the hurricane spooked him and upset his little life.

I can empathize, though. I actually refused to go away to college unless pets were allowed. I was working at a pet store at the time and had fallen in love with a Sun Conure parrot. Luckily, the college I chose allowed birds (up to conure size) and fish. I even got the sign I needed that this was the right move for me when a feather from a bird of prey floated down and landed at my feet. It was also surrounded in nature and had two small lakes on the premises. My animals kept me going when I was really sick and homebound for a few years in high school. They helped me through grief and other tough life experiences (particularly one gentle, rescued, greyhound) and I was afraid to leave them.

During my second semester away from home, I landed a single dorm and my parents bought my cockatiel, Falcor. I miss that bird! He and I set a trend at my college. He also learned some pretty colorful language from other students. *hehe* I used to load him up in his little carrying cage on temperate days and take him outside for sunshine, fresh air, and socializing. One day, when we set ourselves up for some relaxation, five students all came out with their birds in tow. It was great! Someone snuck out their pet rat. Someone snuck out their kitten that was hiding in the apartment. And one girl even wrapped her snake around her neck. Mind you, only birds and fish were legally allowed there. That didn't stop anyone. *LOL*

On my floor alone we had my bird, a pair of lovebirds and their babies, a conure on the next floor up, a few budgies, and a German shepherd puppy (seeing-eye-dog in-training). I also attended a literature class with a professor who utilized a wheelchair and had a black lab as her service dog. Creature comforts certainly helped me acclimate and miss my fur/feather/fin babies a little less.

Okay, getting nostalgic and a bit teary-eyed missing that noisy bird.

Falcor

LOVECRAFT: That's always hard. Does the other dog still look for him, or did you get them awhile after?

CruelToBe: Thanks for sharing and starting this thread. :)
