My kid is 18 and in AIT training in the Army and I miss him like crazy, after all he is all grown up? Still I miss him damm it. It's hard to ever let them go. They are trying to get him to join SF, and after today and the plane going down in Afganastan I'm glad he declined.

I don't know. I talked on the phone with them tonight and they both are in such a rush that they barely said "Hi". I know they are just 2 and 6 so their time runs a little different but it hurt after such a good weekend.

I have a 13 year old daughter and a 5 year old son, and i have them 50% of the time. Sometimes i miss them in my day-to-day life so sharply that i don't know how i can still breathe over the ache of not being able hug them that very second.

I feel with you, Ezarc, in this matter. I've learned though, as you must have learned, too, that when i do have time with them it's more precious for all of us then it used to be.

Maybe the ache of the no-kid times will lessen as time goes on - for you and for me.

My son goes to TN to visit his MawMaw during the summer. For the first little bit of time, I miss him like crazy. Cant do anything but miss him. Then after a while I am able to go on with day to day activities, then about the time I get adjusted to him not being at home, its time for him to be home and I am thinking about the next time he is going to visit MawMaw.

I know its not the same as what you are going thru, but from one parent to another, being away from our kids is a no win situation.

I have never had an extended period away from my ankle biters but I just about went nuts when they went to Aussie for a holiday a couple of years ago. They were gone for 3 weeks and 4 days and I started missing them as I drove away from the Airport. PM me any time you want to chat.

I miss my kids too and they are both grown with kids of their own. But they are my kids still and they are not around and I miss them like crazy. My son is in NC, in the Army, and may yet be sent to Afghanistan. He has two sons of his own. My daughter lives in TN and also has two sons of her own. I talk to them on the phone as often as I can but, damn, NC and TN are a long damn way from Texas.

Aww Sorry you miss your kids.
I know how you feel when my son is at his dads every other weekend.
Its good to see that there are some good dads out there in this world. UNLIKE my ex-husband.
He was suppose to visit our son tonight and we waited and waited and he never showed up or even called.
My bf and i was going to go out and get my son a pool for his birthday next month and let him visit with his daddy without mama around.
So After waiting around for a good hour we had to take my son with us and even drove by his dads house thinking this will save him a trip since its right on out way to town.
Guess what? Dad wasnt home. Dad doesnt have a phone at home or even a cele phone so i have no idea where he was.
My son was so upset because he didnt get to see his daddy tonight. He cried all the way to town.
My ex was always disspointing me over the period we was married but its one thing to dissappoint your spouse but when you do it to a child who doesnt understand why or worse think its their fault why daddys not around, thats another.
Not to worry Ezarc, your children are young still, but if you keep contact with them as they grow they will always know in their hearts that you was there for them, no matter what.

Thanks to all my lit friends and family that posted this thread. I am home sick and wish that I could thank all of you in person. It means alot that so many have felt similarly to me. I have arrange with the ex a tentative visitation schedule of one a month and could be two on some months. I am so happy to have left retail where that wouldn't have been an option.
