I was already a disgruntled Republican ready to bolt due to a combination of nasty things that the GOP had done for a while now, but I finally had enough and refused to be a member of a party that thinks that a fascist is an acceptable candidate for President of the United States.

In a process that took only a few minutes, I just a little while ago, formally re-registered as a Democrat for the first time in my life. This from a guy who registered at 17 (because I would be 18 at the time of the election) as a Republican. I've literally been a Republican my entire adult life, but not anymore. I voted for Romney, but I will not vote for Trump!

I'm also a former republican who is now a registered democrat. The republican party has turned itself into a joke, I voted for Romney and Mccain but I refuse to vote for Trump.

Outraged Republicans set registration cards on fire after Trump all but secures nomination

Republican voters are so upset at the prospect of Donald Trump being the party’s nominee for president that they took to burning their voter registration cards, WFAA reports.

The videos started cropping up on Twitter after Trump’s victory in the Indiana primary on Tuesday night.

“I just left the GOP,” Bryan Akner tweeted, along with a video of him burning his registration card.

I betting Trump does the same about Oct 25th and bows out of the race. Thus proving my prediction that his was a ploy to clear the deck for Hillary!

Are you thinking that The Donald took the time and effort to obtain an official Republican Party membership card? I'm betting not.

Don't let the door hit you in the ass. Maybe Cher has some room for you to travel with her to Jupiter?

You are going to open yourself up to harsh and disproportionally aggressive and mean comments by taking a personal stand either way...because why..."the internets" and people are assholes at times.

I may not agree with your beliefs but I can respect your passion for participating in your RIGHTS as an AMERICAN in voting and the fact that you spend time thinking about your decisions vs. those who spout a few catch phrases and yell "Merica" afterwards.

Thanks for being awesome sir and I hope the same strength and resolve that helped this great country be forged and survive this long will continue to do the same.

PS. In the state I live in you register for a party to vote in the primaries and this year my vote was determined not by who I liked but who I did not want in office. The woman who handed me my ballet took offense when I took a photo with my phone of my completed ballet (to show my young child who is learning about how her great grand parents secured our privilege to vote). She flipped a shit when I refused to hand my phone over so she could erase the picture and demanded to know what I was going to do with the picture. I just told her "none of your business what I do with my ballet or that picture and I am offended you attempted to intimidate me while I exercised my right to vote." She shut up, turned red and sat her fat ass down.

When I worked a polling district in Virginia, it was against the law for photos to be taken or cameras/phones capable of taking photos to be pulled out in a polling station. So, she was probably following the law to flip out when you did it.

Your prediction! I knew he was a mole for Billy's wife from the beginning.

His rhetoric on her--which is likely to get even more nasty--belies that. It's sort of a tin foil hat supposition anyway. It just doesn't fall in with his "it's all about me" personality either.

An anarchist friend of mine spouted the same BS theory today, and yes, it's BS. Trump has been taking pages from the Lou Dobbs Book of Xenophobic Demagoguery for a good while now, since 2011. Birtherism, anyone? Gold standard mania (yes, I once bought into that BS, too). China-bashing. And just like Lou Dobbs, what he stands for is in the worst traditions of America, but with a liberal dose of fascism to boot (hooligans, anyone). Yes, he is the new Hitler. Face it. He's been endorsed by David Duke, former Imperial Grand Dragon of the KKK! He's a racist, xenophobic, misogynistic, protectionist, ultra-nationalist lunatic.

And coming from a former Bircher, that's saying a lot. I know fringe loonies when I see them.

Congratulations on making a very hard decision.

Whether you are right or wrong is irrelevant. It is a considerable wrench to leave something you have supported all your adult life.

Twlight zone!!!

This thread is like a pms support group. I can bake if anyone wants cookies.

Good riddance, dont come back:cool:

Being a mole for Billy's wife is a joke. And he is not a Hitler, he is a Mussolini. Hitler was truly evil. Il Duce was laughable. The Donald is a joke. Not a very funny one though.

I guess the system worked?

Honestly, no matter who wins, life in america is going to get worst for all of us who work for a living.

Having said that, I would rather live under president Clinton, or president Trump than I would any of the other candidates on the republican side.

Only Sanders offers improvement on the democratic side and I fear the effects of several decades of brainwashng, that the american people have had to live with, will trigger a backlash strong enough to lose the election.

Clinton is the safer of the two only because she is better known.

Trump is like buying a pig in a sack. Nobody can be sure of what we are getting with him.

Thank you. Yes, it's tough, but I have to face the fact that the party that I once supported is in fact being led by a man who shouldn't even be allowed to drive, let alone lead the Free World (will it even be a Free World with him in charge of it). Donald Trump is a demented racist and I think that he is frankly senile, too.

I still view him as the new Hitler. Look at how his goons behave! Just like the SA, and he'll dump them when he doesn't need them, just as Hitler did with Ernst Rohm and the stormtroopers.

By the way, the only thing that the Republicans that I've spoken to have that they are sure will make Trump win is a prospective indictment for Hillary. Since she won't be indicted, guilty or not (and that's highly questionable), they're kidding themselves. Hillary won't be an inmate this time next year. She'll be President of the United States.

In 1991, David Duke won the Louisiana GOP gubernatorial primary and faced a very corrupt Democratic former Governor named Edwin Edwards. Everyone knew that Edwards was a crook. It was an open secret. Hell, he later ended up going to prison! He beat Duke handily, anyway, because Duke was a former Imperial Grand Dragon of the KKK and hadn't disavowed his racism at all. Make no mistake, as tragic as a Trump Administration would be, it won't happen UNLESS WE FAIL TO VOTE!

So, stay calm and vote blue, no matter who!

Your AZ Senate vote is critical to the long term health of America. Hold your nose and vote for Hillary if you must, but unless the Senate is Democratic, nothing will change for the better.

Actually, Arizona is becoming slowly (and I do mean slowly), but steadily more purple. It elected Janet Napolitano Governor twice. It has a growing Democratic House delegation. And there is a small chance (very small) that Ann Kirkpatrick might defeat John McCain, remove him from the Senate (don't bet on it, though).

Meanwhile, I'd also like to get rid of Sheriff Joe Arpaio (but good luck with that). Hell, even in 2012, when I voted for Romney, I still crossed party lines to vote against Arpaio, because I was already sick of his racism and corruption.
