A pet is an animal kept in a domestic situation.
This term doesn't imply function, or standards.
It just is.
I happen to have fish among snails, and dogs, and cats, and a toad that lives in my garden, and then in my house in the winter.
Soon, I'll have turtles, and frogs.
Someday I plan on having one of these puppys as a pet.
