Sergeant. But it was a Colonel in the movie, wasn't it? Daisies smell like victory...

We went down to the beach. We could see two of the "legal" firework displays - one on the pier to the north, the other at the fairground to the south - plus countless people lighting everything from sparklers to "hecho en Mexico" beauties that shot 50 feet in the air. At times, you couldn't see the lights through the sulfur clouds. After the pier display ended, some guy in one of the apartments on the beach came out on his patio and played the national anthem on his horn. Everyone cheered.

It rocked.

Huh, I celebrated the birth of my country with a shopping spree of popsicles and BBQ potato chips.

I missed the fireworks this year. Stayed home and played mp3s of Stars and Stripes Forever, Semper Fidelis, National Emblem, The Thunderer, Washington Post, and a few more.

YAY! Because of Rhys, I got to see some fireworks today! I stayed home, I had no one to go see fireworks with. Oh well. There's always next year.

well the battery on the digital camera crapped out (it was entirely too much trouble for the parties that had it before me to charge the fucking thing) so I didn't get very many pictures

ah well you got the idea anyway....

We had our holiday a few days ago, some moron down the street decided it would be cool to set off the fireworks from his driveway.
It was alright, we all got to watch from nice and close, until he tried to set off one of the tosser kinds. (It looked like a cherry bomb, but much bigger)
Stupid ass blew off a chunk of the curb at the foot of his driveway. I still laugh every time I walk past his house. The whole driveway is just covered with round burn scars.
*grins*
Talk about an entertaining holiday!
