Because they wern't about making music, They were all about making really cool sounds, that sound oh so familiar and put smile on your face when you hear them.

80's music involved synthasizers making cool sounds instead of instruments making musical sounds.
(I thought about this while drinking and listing to Pet Shop Boys "West End Girls")

The lyrics didn't even make any sense"every body wang chung tonight?" it was all about having a good time.

Lets face it the music was secondary... you needed the cool clothes. leather pants, ripped shirts and big hair... and if you were in glam band or culture club, a big makeup case.

I mean what the hell was Rock Me Amadaeus by Falco about?

No no..I fully agree with you, Lazarus1280

The 80’s music simply kicked ass..

From Bauhaus to The Talking Heads..

Great decade of music..they used computers in a way that set a new standard.

Don’t just think of the 80’s only churning out The Flock Of Seagulls.

I agree, Laz!:rose:

Enjoying the memories of the Pet Shop Boys! ("What Have I Done To Deserve This").:rose:

Bon Jovi

I've found it interesting Bon Jovi is still around and making some pretty damn good music. One of the few bands from the 80's doing so well. Interesting, because no one would've predicted it. No those guys with the teased up hair and leather pants.

I grew up with the 80's music myself, lot's of us 30-Somethings here a Lit did. (Wasn't there a tevelvision show called that during that time? Thirty-Something...oh my gawd, now I'm 30 something.)

I especially like the music from the mid 70's thought too, Eagles, Kansas, Bad Company, Foreigner, Steve Miller Band. All good music and fun music too.

Holy christ. Do you people hear yourselves? The 80's was the fucking used condom of decades as far as music goes. Terrible, terrible music that emphasized style over substance and had very little style anyway.

I'm an Erasure fan.
I like Depeche Mode.
I like Pet Shop Boys.

Words fail me. I just can't come up with something witty enough to say to this. Shocking, just shocking.

Although Depeche Mode can be okay.

They are my favorite of the three, by far.

I'm glad you didn't group New Order in there. I'd have to kick some ass.

New Order can be decent. But Joy Division is the shiznickle-shizbang.

Syntho-goth pop representin'

I enjoy the music from every decade I've lived through so far! A nose full of coke, good beat, and a nice female in spikes! (top & bottom)
Billy Idol
Blondie
Flock of Seagulls
Cars
Men at work
Missing Persons
:D

Okay, someone keep Lazarus busy, someone else call 911. I'll watch the back door in case he makes a run for it.

Everyone just stay calm and this should go off with out a hitch.

We have a radio station here that plays 80's music all weekend long...I tune in all the time....I was in highschool in the 80's I had semi big hair. the drinking age was only 19...God i wish it were the 80's again:(

80s tunes rule!!!! I was a kid back then......hell yeah!!!

I remember wearing fluorescent pink leg warmers....with
matching sweatshirt (w/ sequined stars).......leggings.....

Oh my god.

LOL

I can't believe I'm seeing this. People are admitting that they like 80's music. It's just not done.

I fee like I'm in AA or something because I hate 80's music, but deep down, I love it.

On of the radio stations in Montreal just went back to their ole format which was classic rock. It is SO bizarre to turn on the radio and hear Honeymoon Sweet!! This station now sounds exactly like it did 10 years ago when I was in college! I can only handle it for a while before the feeling of being 'the target group'or 'the ideal listener' overwhelms me.

Then I find out from a friend that Platinum Blond is going to be doing a gig in Kitchener. It's so funny.

Depeche Mode
Billy Idol
the Cure
Pat Benatar
Bauhaus
The Cult

Damn, there are just too many to list.

There is quite a bit of good stuff from the 80s. And then there's some total shit.

I'm an Erasure fan.
I like Depeche Mode.
I like Pet Shop Boys.

I absolutely LOVE New Order.

There is a lot more to name.

fuck yeah!

all three of those were awesome.
and New Order...fucking rocked.

*orgasms* Yes, yes, . . . YES!

I still have Like a Virgin on vinyl. "Dress You Up in My Love" was the best song Ever! How long did I dance in front of my mirror to that one?!

I got the special edition of "Thriller" on LP. It has a picture of Michael Jackson printed on both sides, just when the idea of printing pictures on albums started, it was so cool there was a PICTURE on the record!
Aren't most records black? Was this picture on records thing common?
I am too young to remember :)

I'd have to ban the lot of you from EVER riding in my car for listening to all that...that...well that SHIT!!!! :D

Man give me the old Van Halen lineup with Dave, give me Ozzy! Iron Maiden! Juda Priest! Hell, lets hear some early Guns N Roses, and some Motley Crue! I wanna hear those wailing guitars and heavy drum beats backed by thumping bass.

Just my humble opinion :)

You may resume....

my fave 80's song

i still love the song wild wild west....i dont remember who sang and it may have been just a one hit wonder...but i loved and still love that song...i like the beat and i love the memories....:D

Kool Moe Dee vylette?? I am still a fan of Motley Crue and Ratt and Cinderella. I listen to all of them on a daily basis. 80's music was/is great. I still love it above all music. Though the 70`s were also great in my opinion. Love Rolling Stones and CCR is the best ever. IMHO. :) Later.
