I don't live in Utah, but I have a lot of family that does.

I hate to bust your bubble, but the Mormon church does not practice polygamy anymore, and hasn't for close to a hundred years.

Get over it.

Yeah, but no, but yeah, but, individual Morons still do.

And you know this because........?

You know what? I don't agree with what they believe in at all, however, my sister and her family are Mormons, and I'm sick and tired of people believing the least little whisper of scandal about them. If you have experience with the church, fine....go ahead and tell me, otherwise, keep your small, biased mind to yourself.

By and large, they are good people.

Fat, are they?

BTW, I didn't mean that milions of Moslem brothers are morons! (Just because I'm a Jew doesn't mean I have any problem with the ragheads.)

Cloudy, relax....

Don't you realize the polygamy thing is a whispered scandal because we all wish we could have mulitple wives.

People make the backwoods jokes about sisters and cousins because, well, my cousin is hot and wouldn't it be cool if it was OK to...

So he was off by a bit (the polygamy towns are in Arizona on the border with Utah/Nevada). And yes, there are some fundamentalists even in Utah doin' it in secret... Lucky bastards... if it only weren't for the religion part.

OK so he missed the option: "I live in Utah because I love to ski... and the women f*** like rabbits."

:)

Normally it wouldn't bother me, however I've heard it so much that I've had enough. That's my sister, and my nieces and nephews, and whether I agree with her religion or not, they're intelligent, beautiful, and my family.

Oh, didn't know that. Thanks!

'struth. Or as Dave Barry would say, "I swear I am not making this up." Out and out and as far as I know localy legal.

(Of course they're heavily religious cult like places, rumored to trade daughters/marry 'em young, brainwashing them... Kinda place gives polygamy a bad wrap you know?)

Utah plans to go after more polygamy offenders

Saturday, July 26, 2003 Posted: 4:46 PM EDT (2046 GMT)

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (AP) -- An alleged polygamist has been arrested and charged with marrying his first cousin, and Utah's attorney general says it's a signal that the state is going after more offenders.

Jeremy Kingston, a member of the large, polygamous Kingston clan, was arrested Thursday at a family gathering in Bountiful on a charge of incest stemming from his 1995 arranged marriage to LuAnn Kingston, when she was 15 and he was 24.

Police had been looking for Jeremy Kingston since May when the incest charge was filed. LuAnn Kingston had left the marriage after five years and two daughters and asked the state to prosecute.

"My first reaction was, wow, they got him. I didn't think it would be so soon," LuAnn Kingston, now 23, said of the arrest Friday. "I'm glad."

Attorney General Mark Shurtleff said Friday that Kingston's arrest is meant to "send a message to these dictators."

"We have several active investigations ongoing," said Shurtleff's spokesman, Paul Murphy. "The concern is we keep hearing of evidence that young girls are being forced to marry against their will within many of these closed communities."

Jeremy Kingston, 32, spent just under three hours in jail before posting $50,000 bail. If convicted of the single count of felony incest, he could face up to five years in jail.

Yes, thank goodness no one else in the United States cohabits and sires children with multiple women.

Moronic behavior is, alas, no one's private preserve.

I don't much agree with how the Mormons treat their female children (at least the ones I knew), but then again I don't agree with a lot of things.

And yeah, one of my childhood friends was Mormon. In the lives, all religious and irreligious people are most often the same.

It reminds me of something Tim Kreider said: "There are only two religions on the Planet. Good religion and Bad religion. The good religions all sound similar, talk about tolerance, acceptance, being a good person, love, etc and the bad religions all sound similar talking about holy war, who needs to be purified, murder, violence, intolerance, etc..."

Yeah, I'm in a right ol' babbling mood today.

What was the topic? Utah? Drinking laws too stiff for my tastes. Something wrong about bringing a paper bag wine bottle into a restaurant like an upscale bum.

We have to do that in Tennessee too.

Yeah, if I wanted to mix my own fucking drinks, I'd stay home.

Oh, man. What a boring show

Just the stupid half of Amercans watching a couple of fat women sing. When you spend that kind of tax-payers' money, you'd expect a couple of bombs going off, or a few snipers snapping at the monkey-boy, wouldn't you?

Wow,

No offense to anyone here, but it is a whole lot of talking about things you dont know anything about.
