They're just elegant!

I may have just watched Marilyn Monroe in '7 Year Itch' on the flight back to New Zealand. It was just elegant!

The aggregate collective IQ of the American Public is plummeting out of control... so sorry, as a general rule, I am not overly fond of people.

Remember intelligence is a bell curve. It is the responsibility of wiser people to be understanding and appear caring while setting an example. (while surreptitiously revelling in superior quality jobs and women and control over their lives)

Teach your children well, then.

I like people too, and although stupidity is in fashion just now, I've found that IQ can rise in any person who suddenly needs to be smarter. You just have to give them the reason. :)

So as I was saying, I had never been exposed to Marilyn Monroe in film before and she is pretty and elegant.

I'm glad that acting has progressed since those styles of monologues to the camera. 'Gee it sure is swell! Now where are my cigarettes! I sure have a hankering for one... and a nice glass of ... wait wait wait WHAT AM I DOING. I HAD BETTER PUT DOWN BOTH OF THESE BECAUSE I PROMISED DOCTOR HARRIS I WOULDN'T!'

My hypothesis is that sound in movies was so incredible they couldn't bear to not talk for a second or people might be upset.

Cross dresser movie = elegant?

I do find it amusing though how they constantly drink in old time movies.

It's like "hello sir, make yourself at home"
"thank you but I only have a few questions and my cars waiting out front"
"would you like some high percentage booze"
"why yes, I drink it like water"

First, a little whiskey to relax. I guess I'd better put a spritz of soda in the fourth glass... I'm no drunkard!

A bottle of champagne? MARVELOUS!

A tall martini? Why yes! Whatever m'lady desires. It's awful strong! *blushes*

I like people most of the time. I even love them most of the time.

:rose:

People are OK, but I really, REALLY like gum. :D

A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow.

One of my favorite movies quotes because it is so true.....

Maybe this thread can be more popular than the thread about not liking people. It's more mild in here.

Mild is for laundry detergent.

Or salsa?

I like most people. There are obviously some exceptions, but I prefer to ignore them rather than let them ruin my mood. I can't change others, so I don't see the point in getting worked up over it. It's not worth the ulcer. Well-made salsa, on the other hand, is definitely worth the ulcer. Cilantro is a wonder-spice. Just sayin'.

I find that if I am in a good mood, i tend to like people more. So it's not thier fault if I don't like them, it's me in a bad mood.

Except for stupid cunts and jerks. I hate them, good mood or not.

I don’t like people, but that’s ok. I think it probably makes me like the ones I do like more so.

LOL!!

Me, too. Wasn't too hot on the movie, but then I'm not real big on movies where things explode. It's nasty.

I hope so.

I've noticed that most people who pride themselves on not liking people aren't very likable themselves. If all a person can talk about is how shallow everyone else is, they're pretty shallow. Who's got that quote in their sig line about people who pride themselves on being hard to please?

To be fair, there are days when I don't like people either. The difference is that those days are just that, days. They go away.

I dislike people. (I blame seeing the public via working at a grocery store.)

There are individuals I dearly adore and who help restore my hope in humanity.
And there are some who simply don't piss me off.

This forum consists mostly of those who restore my hope.
