If I didn't see it with my own eyes...

I just saw the equivalent of a PSA on menopause. It was on CBS and it was a plea for men to learn more about menopause! You heard me - can you believe that? Bunch of babies, a few million women going through menopause at the same time has them scared! LOL

I so love this..... maybe this should be a "What I love about menopause" thread. I admit my moods have found the 'E-ticket' and what a ride - hold on with both hands BUT the best part - I enjoy having those major mood swings in front of all the men I can find. It would be payback if women didn't have to deal with more physical oddities then men.... but in some small way I am putting the fear into men anywhere I can find them.

A PSA? Give me a break - will it be 'hide the men and children' next? Too funny.

So men, perhaps you ought to take a crash course in menopause - or you could just invite me and a few of my friends over. :D

LOL... Cate you are soooooo funny ;) :D

Nothing like the power of the baby boom demographic.

I bet that PSA gave some men a pause, didn't it?

OK Kisso, that is clever. However in the style of a friend (who I miss lots), G R O A N ;)

Ahhh see.... Hey I will admit. WOMEN ARE STRONGER THEN MEN.
There is no way we could handle what you all do. All the changes you all go thru, the female stuff and given birth to babies and just all of it... I mean we men are whine when we are sick... lol so there is no way we would survive doing any of the stuff you all do...

SO MY HAT IS OFF TO WOMEN.... THE STRONGER SEX! :D

Well, that is nice to read Spenser..... I suppose "we couldn't do with out you" applies. I'm thinking God knew what He was doing - most of the time. I still have a list of things to discuss with Him when(if?) I get there. A few slight modifications are in order - updates so to speak. ;)

Maybe they were just trying to educate men on the subject since it's something they know little about. Maybe it would be a good thing to let men know what's going on so they understand better.
Maybe you should stop and think before criticizing something. Idiot.

Hmm, seems like you didn't see the humor (not criticism) in it, which is needed to deal with menopause - and life in general. But one thing that doesn't go over well at anytime is name calling.

good thread Cate

Agreed, this PSA is good in the fact it seems to educate and enlighten the "mysteries" of menopause. To find humour in a part of life is the best way of dealing with it, imho. Its not fun, nor is it anything ot look forward to, but being able to laugh and joke about it, as pms, is the best way of dealing with the eventuality of it. I can do without the snide remarks of "oh, you must be pausing today" or whatever.
Fortuantely, I've gotten past the mood swings, I stopped taking the HRTs and now find with the exception of a few hotflashes, I have no problems.
Just a side note, if you've symtoms and don't wish to take HRTs, try the natural remedies, such as Estrovan. It worked for me when I stopped the prescribed meds.

~kym~ can laugh about it now :D

There are so many things to laugh about with it and yeah, like you a few less comments might help but then again it can be another chance to laugh.

I've been doing pretty well with it - a few years of hot flashes (which may technically be flash but it sure doesn't feel like flash or flashy ;) ) I don't see much reason not to embrace it and have a good laugh!

That's my lot in life: to make women groan when I'd much rather make them moan. :(

As for the PSA, I really do think that menopause is poorly understood all around. Not only do most men not have a clue about what menopause is all about but it's common for women to have misconceptions as well.

As for me, I buy into the notion that eating soy products may reduce the discomforting symptoms of menopause. In fact, since I started using soy milk and eating a lot of tofu two years ago I have not had a single hot flash.

Not sure if that's good or bad though.

Kisso you do make a special woman moan.... that is wonderful in itself. I bet you give her hot flashes.

I do agree, more info the better..... it was something about CBS using one of the male soap opera dudes that had me laughing at it. You just gotta laugh!

I've tried the soy route, I don't like the milk etc. but do like the beans, so pretty cool for me.

NOT nice at all....

5th. May

Two hours ago I was walking down the High St of a local town. Men and women in suits and rosettes were jumping out of every corner demanding to know if the lunch time shoppers had voted yet.

Reminded me of those perfume spritizer chaps in department stores. "Would you like to test? It's Desperation by Dior."

Understandable really, it'll be a close thing in this constituency....
Conservatives...47%

Liberals............45%

Labour.............Must try harder

UKIP / Veritas etal...Pull the other one, it's got bells on!

So, back on the High St. A man wealding a clipboard approaches a woman quite close to me, and asks the inevitable. Her reply, "I ain't votin'!. I ain't never voted!" left me wide eyed.

In 1905when Christabel Pankhurst publically asked Winston Churchill if he believed women should have the right to vote, he ignored the question. She was then arrested because her banner waving was 'causing an obstruction.'

I wanted to tell Ain't Votin' this, and about the dirty tricks played by Asquith's Govt., such as the Cat and Mouse Act.

But why bother? She at least has that choice.

Now, can someone give me a hand down, please? This is a very high horse.
