I'm heavily technologically impaired and I'm completely lost. What do I do next? How do I navigate Instagram? How do I direct people to my work on Literotica? Is it even all worth the time and effort? Thanks!!

Try and copy a link to here

My impression is that X is a better platform to join. Literotica is active there as well as a number of authors. You can interact with them as an easy way of getting visibility. If you post that you've published a new story and copy Literotica, Literotica will retweet your tweet. I don't know of any equivalent on Instagram.

Well, who knew!!!!!
Now what? I haven't logged on to X since it was Twitter. I logged on and am totally baffled as to what to do next.

How do I get my Lit stories publicized. Please be painfully detailed. I am severely social media challenged!!! Perhaps there's an X for Dummies somewhere?

I see that I am following Smashwords and have no followers of my own.

I think one thing you need to do is to decide what are you going to do with your X account. Are you going to use it only to announce that your latest story has been published? That would mean that you are only rarely posting. If you want to build followers, you need to regularly post content. So what would be the content you'd post? Literotica stories you've read and enjoyed? Your insights into writing? Your political thoughts? Nude pictures that you like?

Check out @EmilyMiller (https://x.com/EmilyMillerLit) and @HeyAll (https://x.com/HeyAllStories) for different examples of the content you can provide to X.

So you're saying I should linkes to my Lit stories in my X bio? Sounds like a plan. BUT! On my Home page, the Post link at the top is grayed out. Can't get to posting anything. Googling isn't helpful. I get stuff about Reddit and Tweets and other stuff.

Thanks very much for the links. I was just going to start with a post for each story with a picture and a copy to Literotica and let their re-tweet do the work. See reply 3 above. But first I've got to get the Post button on my Home page to work...

AND.... I've been suspended from Twitter/X. Well, that was a super fun half hour.
I'm on my third Twitter/X account. I had the first account for a while but rarely used it. And then it got locked and Twitter/X demanded a phone number. I vaguely remember appealing the locking and discovering that the underlying Google account was locked. I created account #2, had it for a while, and then it was locked for "Activity that violated the Terms of Use". Again, I needed to give them my phone number to unlock it.

With account #3, I'm doing my best to do nothing that draws attention to the account.

All I did was add my picture (same one here), and post a link to one of my stories (https://www.literotica.com/s/chapter-01-the-first-blowjob) and tagged Literotica (who, I'm guessing, posts lots of sexy stories with no issue). I was dropped because I was using a pen name to deceive and some other nefarious wrongdoings. Because, if you check out any of my stories or posts on Literotica, you'll see what a terrible person I am. 🙄

Did you post anything that might be construed as political (especially "woke")? I've heard some weird stories about Twitter forbidding "cisgender" as hate speech.

Nope. In fact, I would never do that. People can do/be whatever they want. I was banned because I'm using a pen name. So, a DBA (doing business as) name is apparently not allowed. So, Twitter/X is actually run by someone named X, Walt Disney has returned from the grave to post about his newest animated movie, and there's really a sentient peanut with a top hat and a cane running the Planters Nut Company. Who knew?

Yeah. My original Twitter account was hardly ever used. I think I posted once and followed one person. (My daughter tells me it wasn't the "real" David Brooks.) I forgot about it for a couple (three?) years, and then I tried to use it for some reason and was told it was suspended. ?????? I went through the steps to complain, but no luck. I really hate the arbitrariness and opaqueness of this new world.

All I did was add my picture (same one here)
My guess is that was tripped some automatic check: you used a picture of a person along with a fake name. If there's an option to appeal, I'd use it, since pen names like this should be a perfectly valid usecase.

Pen names shouldn't trigger a ban. I use one and haven't had a problem.

Usually it's a "suspected bot account" that triggers an issue and there's a "human test" to go through to get the account unlocked. Or at least there was when that happened to me shortly after Musk bought it.

That said, any erotica content and tags will get you shadow banned so people can't see anything you post unless they are already following you or following someone following you.

Blue sky and IG are better social media Avenues. For IG, screenshot snippets of key parts of your story and share them along with mocked up character images or cover art and a short description with the link. All individual posts for more exposure.

Blue sky works like Twitter, but without the shadowban on erotica

Well, since I'm human, I would expect to be able to pass that test. I did appeal and had to send a selfie. We'll see what happens from there.

Wait, nope. I'm back on Twitter/X. I'm such a freakin' spaz. I really need to hire someone to handle EVERYTHING for me just so that I can function like a normal human. So, find me on Twitter/X (just calling it X sounds so weird) and let's do social media stuff together!!

Xitter (pronounced shitter) is owned by a self important Russian agent and should be avoided at all costs.

I'm in Twitter and Insta as Bazzleauthor a third of my twitter followers are "agents" wanting me to spend $300 to ghost write my stories.

Going back to your original question... From what I understand from my 16 yo niece, Instagram is visual only.

Is it really worth it to open an X account? You feel you're getting more attention to your work?
