story focuses on a guy (or could be a gal) who hasn't had sex in a looong time. Living in a strange city, no family, few friends... has just the WORST day... loses their job, car breaks down, finds out they are getting sues...

really needs a hug, but knows looking for that would be hopeless, looking for sex could work better.

no time for online dating, needs it now.

tries the strip club, but strikes out there.
tries a bar, no takers.

what does (s)he do next?

I don't know what (s)he does next, but I do think this story would be better with a female protagonist than a male one. I just think it's more likely that a woman would turn to sex as a way to forget about a really shitty day than a man would. Repeated hits to their self-esteem seem to lessen men's sex drive, not increase it.

Go with the classic trope "Hooker With a Heart Of Gold", he calls and meets her, he just talks to her, she hugs him. He falls in love. She hopes she can still love. Can he stay in love and have a relationship with a hooker?

Yeah, I was gonna say the answer is obvious: hooker or escort service. Or Craigslist or Adult Friend Finder or any of those services.

I guess it all depends on where you plan to go with the story: is it a straight stroker, where all that matters is the hotness of the sex? Or do you want it to turn into a romance (bittersweet or otherwise) with actual human emotions. That would probably come into play in deciding how to kick things off.

In any case, it has to be a guy. Any reasonably attractive woman can walk into a bar and find a guy to go home with her and fuck her. Guys are more likely to strike out, especially if they look like a sad sack in the first place.

I never tire of Carnevil9, you are quite correct, but here the men are always quite handsome and well-endowed, thus they need a hooker! Sad sacks need not apply, too real-life! And the Hooker should be a virgin, blonde, super big boobs, and have a Ph.D. in sex counseling. Actually she is a very high end escort and he is a billionaire. We will call it Fifty Shades of Obvious.

What if the guy is disabled in someway? He knows damn well that no woman will go near him let only fuck him so he hires a hooker to have sex with him. When the deed is done the hooker realizes that this opportunity was the only sex that he was ever going to have so she insists that they have a regularly scheduled "date" once a week or several times a week where he is able to get his needs fulfilled.

He walks into the park, intending to just sit on a bench, gazing at the stars and feeling sorry for himself. But instead, finds a kindred soul who's doing exactly the same thing.. They share that park bench, comparing horror stories about the bad day they just had. And find something in common. Not necessarily a mutual attraction yet. But neither wants to go home to their lonely apartment. They can hear the sounds of laughter coming from the pub across the street, and decide to go over to share a drink and more conversation. And maybe bask in the happiness of others. One of them has too much to drink and is in no condition to walk back to his/her apartment. So the other offers a place to crash for the night. And you can write in any number of scenarios from there, though I usually write in the sex as unintentional rather than as the goal of going back to that apartment.

An alternative is that BOTH of them get too drunk to make it back to their apartments. And a group of revelers they've been drinking with drags them off to someone elses apartment to continue the revelry. Only the two of them end up in a back bedroom, too drunk and too tired to join in the fun, but not too drunk to realize they've crashed on the same bed.

Well, this is exactly what I did years ago when I found myself "the new guy" in a strange town without any friends. Except the video arcade didn't have gloryholes. Though that didn't matter to the guy who stepped inside the booth with me and sat next to me on the little bench...
