It was extremely gusty today so I broke out my red diamond kite, it can handle gale force winds. The kite was about 100' in the air and the wind stole it right out of my hands. In less than a minute it was gone into the sky, it was headed east.

I hope it doesn't kill anybody...

Bummer. So frustrating if it was an expensive one.
How did it look like?

BTW
You must be a bit of a tomboy.
I bought my nephews and a friend one once, but never thought of owning one.

It was a solid red 12" diamond with 14' tail.
Ripstop nylon, fiberglass spars.

It was my cheapest kite but it was my most reliable- it'd fly in any kind of wind.

There is that moment when you are watching the kite fly away and thinking that you could run after it or jump in the car and follow. But then reality sinks in and you realize the fucker is gone forever.

Tree food.

:(

A 12" kite flew away? I don't think it will kill anyone, if it does I hope they voted for trump. :)

Girls fly kites, boys do stuff like kite surfing. :p

Just to clarify size the horizontal cross spar was 12", the vertical was 30".
I did try to go look for it, that's the responsible thing to do.
I wonder how far it went!

Yeah, I ran after for like 3 seconds. Then you're just like, nope.

The etiquette is whoever finds the kite gets to keep it.

I just hope it didn't like land on the front windshield of a moving vehicle and cause them to have a wreck. I'd much rather a tree eat it.

I found a kite once in the middle of a forest. It's hard to not see something shocking pink in a sea of green.

I like kites!
We used to have a kite flying event as part of Winter Carnival.
Flying a kite from a frozen lake was really cool.
I wish they would bring that event back. It was called Frosty Finger's Kite Flying

I've never seen the point. As a kid I remember making a huge kite out of old tv antenna rods and a bed sheet. I tied it on my back with a rope and waited for the wind to lift me up and carry me away. It never did. I later learned that physics could explain my failures but not erase the disappointment. Fucking kites.

I am told that flying kites at Kitty Hawk is interesting.

I remember I got a kite once when I was little. I tried for days and days to get it to go up in the air, but I really didn't know how. Then one day, it just took off and soared! It felt like it would pull me away with it! It was the most amazing thing ever! For about ten seconds and then the string broke and the kite flew away.

How sad. Sounds like next time you just need better string!
