I had the same thing *almost* happen. The cable guy showed up to hook up cable and cable modem when we first moved in, and I told him to just leave the hardware and I would do it myself. He plopped his ass down at my PC and was about to click on IE to install the ISP's own version...I told him to leave my setup the way it was. He then was about to browse through Windows Explorer....I told him to get off my PC before I called him in.

You really do have to be careful with some of those guys because in El Paso, one of them was found to be installing his own trojans on people's PC's.

I'm suprised at some of the stuff that people leave on their computers when taking them in to get fixed....my husband has found some rather interesting things. You would think if they knew they were going to be leaving their computer for someone to work on they would take the time to hide certain things. I know I would. But perhaps they want to be found??

I was with a friend when he was getting his shop-built PC worked on, and suddenly, 3 guys with suits walk in, flash their badges (CID) and are rushed into the back room. We continued to wait, and then a guy in BDU's comes in about 10 minutes later. He had been called to come down to the shop about something on his computer. He walks into the back of the shop, and then a few minutes later, he's being led out in handcuffs. The shop owner (another friend) told us that the guy had left a CD-R full of kiddie porn in his PC when he had brought it in to get it worked on. Now how stupid is that? on all accounts.

People have bought computers to me with... interesting files on them before.

Nothing too bad, certainly no kiddies (that I've ever noticed). But there was one woman... it was hard to keep a straight face when giving it back to her. She's been quite clever, in a nonsensecal way. All her porn (of her) was disguised as settings files and the like. As I was trying to sort out problems she was having some of the first things I clicked were... well you get the drift.

She liked her toys, THAT much is for sure!
