I Just got my first comment in Finnish

Just to be clear, the story wasn't written in Finnish, was it? 'Cause that would make a lot more sense.

I'm actually oddly jealous. I think I've had comments from most of the English speaking world, but I've never gotten one in a foreign language. Hrmm... Maybe that first one. I'm going to say "congratulations!" and hope I have the same weird fortune someday.

I did get a request from here a couple of years ago for permission for someone to translate a few of my stories into German and put them on a German-language Web site--including my author name. That was a bit kicky, and I agreed.

I've occasionally thought about translated versions of stories to put up here on Lit - the question of which languages to choose is always there, of course. My quick look at the various on-line translators suggests you could come up with a vaguely competent first pass pretty quickly, which could be passed on to a native speaker to get colloquialisms right.

Ogg did one of his into French not so long ago, but he didn't report back.

Maybe he'd do better into Japan - he mentioned in the "What's a View?" that he's had stories appear on various "niche" web sites there.

My translation into French didn't work well. I used Google translate and my ancient French skills of over 50 years ago.

The response shows that I need to learn French again. Even 50 years ago what I was taught was at least 30 years out of date then. Australian teachers of French weren't very good. "Ca Va, Mate?"

Some of my stories have appeared, not on Literotica but on other sites, in Czech, German, Polish and some Indian sub-continent languages. The Japanese sites used them in English.

If I understand some of the comments on those sites in other languages the readers seem to prefer to read the original Og story in English.

Well my Halloween story is set on a Caribbean island where they speak French and I'm using google translate for a few French phrases and sentences. Hopefully simple enough that google doesn't make me look like an idiot.

Chloé, Google ne te permettrait jamais d'avoir l'air stupide. Je suis sûr que vos morceaux seront bien. Très savoureux, j'en suis sûr. Hmmm, bits pourrait être le mauvais mot...

Wow. Not Finnish but English and I loved this email feedback. Motivation!!!!

"I just wanted to let you know that I purchased your novel off Amazon and it's by far the best $3 I've ever spent in my life. Your writing is exquisite and I haven't been able to stop reading this book all day. Fantastic work!"

Chloe positively glows! :heart::heart::heart:

Tu es bien trop gentil avec une jeune fille simple qui doit utiliser google parce que son français est si pathétique

I'm Finnish, The exact translation is YOURE BETTER THANN PILOT AND HIS ALT " Chez Tarzan" but everyone is better.

Anyone wants comments in Latvian?

I can make few on request. It's Google translate language (with about 2 million speakers), but I can make it so it will come out as complete gibberish, using mostly words with no or wrong translation and grammatical constructs that have no analogue in English, like generously applied diminutive and/or derogatory forms to most or all nouns in the sentence.

If I had asked for a comment in Finnish, it wouldn't have been special to get one. And it was only special because I found out it was Finnish and roughly what the words meant. If I hadn't gotten the translation, I would have deleted it.

So surprise an author with a Latvian comment, but make sure that it's something they can get translated.

Of course And, also of course, that was an attempt of joke, if that's got lost.

Love Those Finns

I got one too!

Siskon kanssa illallisella. Sitten kunnon panot pilluun.

Translation: Sister with dinner. Then fucked pussy.

Do the Finns have a thing for brother/sister?
